millerm40's Journal, 31 July 2015

So, I just had a coworker stop by to see me that I haven't seen in MONTHS... He looked GREAT! I could tell he had lost a LOT of weight since the last time I saw him. He told me he had lost 25 pounds in one month on the Whole 30 plan...

Anyone here of it? Anyone do it? Anyone on it? Looks interesting... but it's not much different than most... From my scanning their website... "Avoid Carbs and Sugar"... Veggies, Meats & Fruit...

Would love to hear others feedback on the plan...

Happy Friday...

I think I've heard the term Whole 30 before but don't know anything about it. There are several good eating plans out there, the best one is a healthy one that fits the person and it sounds like this one fits your co-worker well. Have a great day.

The best plan os the one you can stick to daily!

Totally agree with HCB! As far as Whole 30, it is a really great way to start a new approach to eating clean. No processed foods, dairy, sugar, legumes or grains. Lean protein, with strong recommendation towards grass-fed (I did not eat grass-fed due to budget).Eat plenty of green veggies. I did Whole 30 for a month and then graduated to Paleo; pretty much the same way of eating, just more variety. In just a couple of months, down 26#; no exercise. I also found that most of my autoimmune issues disappeared; the most noticeable was no more joint pain. Tips: Plan ahead! Always have a small snack handy if you work or go out often (raw almonds/cashews). Try to keep a portion of cooked protein in fridge or freezer for those crazy busy days to prevent hunger from taking advantage! Hope this helps! No matter what method you choose on your journey, just know that your effort and dedication to change are what makes the difference.

I say no dairy, no sugar, no way LOL Your friend will probably gain some weight back, it's not normal to lose that much in a month unless he's morbidly obese.

My coworker has done the Whole 30 several times now, and really likes it. Its meant to really define your relationship with food in a positive way. Personally, after reading about it, in my opinion it really isn't a sustainable way of eating. It is incredibly strict, and it places a lot of limitation on what you can and cannot eat. But it really does emphasize the notion of using food for fuel, and it couldn't hurt to try.

Anytime you can avoid eating processed food you are doing your body a favor - no matter what diet you're on.
