I want to lose enough weight to be a size 10 and then stay there. I have been a size 10 before but my body seems to want to be a 12 so its a struggle to get back down. I found maintenance to be the most difficult because thats when I start having those little extras that add up and then I am a 12 again.

I thought I was getting close to a 10 at 145lbs but I tried on a pair of Gap regular size 10 and there is no way. I will need to get down to a solid 140lbs and then maybe they might fit. Do you measure your hips or just weigh yourself?

If you use a tape measure you will notice that 1 inch = about 5 lbs.

Lakeontario, that's really interesting! I will try using only the tape measure. The scale makes me so nervous I lose focus. Besides, it's the size that I am interested in, not so much the pounds. If my clothes fit, I just feel better!

I got started taking measurements when I went to Curves and it just made sense to measure as our wieght fluctuates with fluids ect. To measure stomach, put your hands on the top of your hips and go right around over your belly button. This is how the Heart and Stroke recommends to measure waist.

Sounds good I will try it !! cause the scale is saying one thing but my clothes are showing something else !!!

Inches seem to go first and then the scale eventually catches up!
