I got my happy light in yesterday, wow talk about bright! It lit up the room so much that I can see all of the cobwebs and dust balls that were hidden in the corners of the ceiling......gonna have to get rid of those. Sitting by it right now, it's amazing how crisp and clear it makes my book I am reading. Maybe this is the cure for my chronic squinting when trying to read with a 60 watt soft white bulb. Could not afford the 10,000 lux light so had to go for the 5,000 lux which means having to leave it on for two hours for minimal assistance. I will probably keep it on the entire time I am at my computer, it actually makes the screen less stressful on my eyes also. As far as eating, I am doing well....I had run out of heavy cream and whey protein on Tuesday, so since I was way down on my calories for the day, last night for dinner I had made mac & cheese for hubby and I added two tablespoons to my plate. This was the first pasta to pass my lips since I began. It did not taste good at all. Very heavy, doughy and tasted like flour. I thought I had made it badly since I did not sample it while cooking, hubby said, no...it's perfect, the way you always make it, tastes delicious....hmmmmm. Two months without ANY and when I try it again, it tastes like crap. I wonder if all of the things we think we love taste good just because our palettes are jaded? The broiled pork chops were yummy, the salad was crisp and tasty, just the mac and cheese was blah and heavy on the flour taste. Interesting....

I thought about getting one, but I am bipolar. There is some indication the light triggers manic episodes.

Hey Debra can you tell me some about the "happy light" you are talking about ... I live in an area that doesn't give me as much Vitamin D and am wondering if i could supplement with this? Any info would be greatly appreciated?

I just got it Babe, I am taking a vitamin D supplement and using the light therapy to try to banish the winter blues before they get a foothold on me, they have a website http://www.verilux.com/light-therapy-lamps/winter-blues/?gclid=CPnzsaO5isICFQQQ7AodCkEA_Q It has a lot of helpful information on it, I bought mine from Amazon for 74.95 and free shipping, this is only my second day using it. I love it's brightness, other than that I can't really tell you if it is working or not because I have not used it long enough to tell. We have had 2 very cold but sunny days and I usually only get down when it's gray for several days.

Babe, I have been doing some reading, Vitamin D production in the body is achieved by UVB light, HappyLights do not produce enough UVB to stimulate Vitamin D production. There is a company called Sperti that makes and sells UV lamps that promote both Vitamin D production and home tanning. The units are pricey between 300.00 and 500.00. Hope this helps answer some of your questions.
