Princess, for many years, people have claimed eggs are bad for you along with red meats, cheese, butter, whole milk, etc. Now, other people are claiming those same foods are good for you . . . drop the grains and high sugar fruits. They have discovered that eggs, in particular, are very high in nutrients and don't seem to have any effect on raising cholesterol. I have studied both side and decided that I like the idea of moderation. I normally eat an egg a day for all those lovely nutrients. My cholesterol is fine. If you don't have an egg allergy, read both sides of the issue and decide what's best for YOU.

There was a whole tread here on fat secret about eggs. Some are all for them, some, like me think that moderation is the key. I eat 2 eggs weekly. If you ate only egg whites then you could eat them all the time. That part is really healthy and a good protein source.

Actually, the whites have most of the protein and most of the sodium. The yolks have most of the actual nutrition, like zinc, calcium, phosphorus, selenium, folate, vitamins A, E,D and K, DHA and carotenoids. If it's just protiein you're after, the whites are fine. The yolks have all the real nutrition.

I think you only really have to worry about eggs if you have a family history of or have high cholesterol. Because basically your body makes over 80% of it's cholesterol anyway. And when people cut back the body just ups it's cholesterol production to compensate for the reduction in it's usual supplementary source. Because the body regulates itself and has a set level it will always set out to maintain regardless. Check out: HEART OF THE MATTER PRT 1: http://youtu.be/sGIGXfIDaJo On Youtube which exposes why cholesterol isn't actually the enemy we were previously lead to believe. I personally think eggs are very good and healthy for us and eat 3 a day. 2 for breakfast and one in my daily (home made) low carb chocolate muffin.

There are both types of cholesterol in eggs, one shuttles out the other - unless you are intolerant to the egg itself they are a very good source of protein for everyone. No one (unless you're allergic!) should be scared of eggs!

Eat eggs, cholesterol is produced in the liver anyway and studies have shown that eating eggs in most people did not increase any levels of cholesterol (dietary cholesterol is not linked to blood cholesterol as some doctors would have you believe). Those that it did raise levels in, it was only marginally and it was a good thing. Things that are bad for you have been processed in a factory and made by man... eggs come straight out a chicken and contain all the nutrients necessary to build a living creature - how can they be bad for you? Just watch your calories and don't eat processed foods. Plus, don't worry about the fat in eggs... fat isn't the enemy, in fact eating good oils and fats leads to weight loss assuming you aren't eating a crapload of rubbishy simple carbs like refined sugars. Eating fat lets your body know that you can get fat as a fuel source, eating low carbs lets your body know that carbs are limited, so it will try and metabolise fat in order to fuel you. Low carb diets are the way to go (I'm not talking about eliminating carbs and going full Atkins though!) ... if you think about it, before we had shops, we used to hunt and kill animals and forage for food. We found nuts, berries, mushrooms and if lucky, veggies, and we killed animals. These diets were high in protein and fat, with limited carbs (berries/vegetables). Eggs are exactly the kind of things we were designed to eat. http://authoritynutrition.com/how-many-carbs-per-day-to-lose-weight/
