Has anyone else noticed the "My Professionals" link now on FS? It lets you say who your trainer, dietitian, doctor, or other health professionals are. Anyone here actually crazy enough to give up that information? Not me.

Kind of weird...it's not like we live by each other so that information is pretty useless...

I saw it yesterday. Our health insurance requires us to log information to qualify for the cheapest deductible. I would like to not have to enter information twice. :)

Well NM, I can see it as a really useful tool for someone who is new to healthy eating/exercise and is working closely (and openly and honestly) with a healthcare provider, dietician, or physician to make some life-long healthy changes. Plus, some people need the increased level of accountability to someone they see face-to-face instead of anonymous strangers on the Internet.

It still makes me feel like someone's going to try to sell me something.

GTM I'm with you!

Me too, SW and GTM. There's nothing like knowing why for yourself. Your doctor, except for tests, can never learn as much as you can learn about your particular situation. The Internet will be the ruin of under-par doctors.

Heather mentioned that in her journal .. otherwise I hadn't notice it. I don't have any professionals except my doctor and I can barely get her to spend 180 seconds in the exam room with me much less expect her to take time coming here and analyzing. Ironic too.. as commenting just reminded me I did tell her about FS a couple of years ago, how much this community had helped me, and she recommended a different site. So .. yeah, no... no link for her. Or anyone else. I guess the answer to your question would be 'no'. And don't worry. I won't be using the D word here.

And how many of us have a personal trainer, other than ourselves?

Nope, not for me, either.

I'd rather have an impersonal trainer. I mean... seriously. Where did 'personal' come from. The phrase "That's personal!" comes to mind.

My conspiracy-theory -esque mindset says that all this personal information that we are entering online will be used against us by our government (US, dunno anything about other countries' practices). Stores already ask for zip codes, phone numbers, name, etc and they are astounded when you don't want to give it. "Don't you want to save 10%?" We give our buying habits freely when we use store rewards cards. Ugggggg.

All in the name of marketing, but then everyone sells the information. One store up here has actually dropped the cards and gives you what used to be a 'card price'. I think they're trying to be first in as non-invasive, and they're a major chain. It's nice to see. What they did in Canada to try and push it is to get rid of the penny. If you pay cash, they round up. If you pay by debit, you keep the pennies.

I have a personal trainer, NM. In fact, he is on here. No big deal to share my stuff with him!

I freaked out when I saw that too. So much for anonymity.
19 Sep 14 by member: msbuggirl
I think it goes to their email or something like that, No?

I agree with you, if I want to share my stuff with my professionals, I just print it up and take it with me. I don't really trust the "security" online much.

I know this is kind of off topic: Where attend Zumba sessions at in the past month I notice this personal trainer and his clients (all women) end up watching us for our whole hour. This past week 2 of the gals stopped training with him and are now in sessions with us...Wish I knew them better to ask what's up with that has to be something to it (yea I'm nosey about it lol).
