Finally, a good drop!! My private training sessions have been kicking my butt! The kettlebell and TRX are truly the hardest workout I've ever done - my trainer is next to me for 45 mins straight and there's no stopping between each art except to get a drink of eater and wipe off the buckets of sweat. I would highly recommend both. I can already tell my arms are toning up. It's working the back of my legs and butt, as well as my abs. The cardio is what I didn't realize was so intense. I've come home shaking each time as every muscle in my body got a workout. This is a different gym than I normally go to and a bit on the pricey side, but I've only signed up for a certain number of lessons. After the privates, I hope to join their classes here and there (if I can afford it) as they do seem more focused than my regular gym and are teaching proper techniques. I can't believe how many areas of your body you can work out with these two pieces of equipment.

Hope you all have a fabulous weekend!!

What is a TRX?

It's a set of suspended straps with loops and handles that allow for many different exercises. Here's a demo video for you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MbybxX5cXBE

It doesn't look like that link worked. Just do a youtube search for TRX and it'll show you a bunch of different exercises you can do with it.

mmmm my gym has a slew of suspended straps, wonder if I'm doing some of that. My trainer has me doing things using straps and on some weights that are attached.

TRX is a suspension training tool - the Navy Seals made it popular. Here's the Wikipedia description: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suspension_training Basically you use these straps that are connected to a metal device (kind of like a swing set frame) and use your body weight for exercise. So, for a lot of the exercises, you keep your body in a plank position and lean back for stuff like curls - or forward for push ups. You can do squats and ab work as well. Check out you tube and Trainer Vanaker and TRX. His video first shows something I'll never be able to do! The second and third exercises are more of what I'm doing now (chest press, etc). "60 TRX Exercises Part 1 by Trainer Vanacker HD" I go to FitnessSocial.com. You can also look them up on facebook. I am definitely thinking of maybe getting the set up for home... Thanks everyone!!

Sounds great…. just be careful of injury. A friend of mine did kettle ball and went to far and had an issue with her back. I have been doing more strength training now, intense 30 minutes twice a week, one of these with a trainer and I too have been seeing results.

Thanks all! Olga, that's exactly why I'm doing private lessons. I don't want to hurt myself by doing kettle bells in a class without knowing the proper form. There is definitely a skill to it so that you don't hurt your bad or bulk up the wrong muscles for women. Wanting to work the back of my legs and butt, not build my thighs bigger. So, hinging at the waist is key. Also, you let the motion of the bells work for you so as not to strain your back and then your core so you don't lean backward. A lot to think about. Good job with your strength training! Doesn't it make you feel great!
