Day 5 of a planned 5 day fast
Good news - This 5 day fast was a 'walk in the park'. I plan to fast Mon-Friday until August or 160lbs (whichever comes first).
Because it is only 'no solid food' fast rather than 'only water' fast I only get a 1 pound a day loss rather than the 2 pounds a day loss I have gotten in the past. I wish I could eat those tiny no carb meals I see in the pictures on Fat Secret, but, I have tried and I just end up eating a hamburger. Fasting allows me to go 5 days without eating a hamburger.
This weekend is a BIG weekend. There is a big dinner party feast that is-going-to-happen. Therefore damage-will-be-done. As Dr. Fung says, plan your diet around your life not your life around your diet.
However, because I broke my fast on Thursday last week I went on a 4 day 2 pound a day carb binge. Do the math and you can see why I am not logging my weight until it reaches my last posted weight (spikes on my weight chart de-motivate me, not motivate me - however I do continue to log all my calories and exercise).
So, this morning, a 5 mile run. Tonight, one small meal. This Saturday I plan to only eat one low carb meal and run 7 miles. Therefore I should only have to "pay" for one day (Sunday).
Fast starts again on Monday...

Nice plan. Not sure if you lift yet, but if so, you may want to consider a heavy session in advance of each of your refeed meals. Another thing that has helped me is to start my refeed with a 50g protein shake. Those two together have been most helpful. Let's go! #mindfulrefeed

@chesgreen - Thanks for the support :) The more I fast the easier it gets. 5 days now just feels 'normal'. 7 days 'requires a commitment'. 11 days is 'real effort'. For me, fasting is: 1) Something I can do 2) Something that works.

love, love, love your posts, they really inspire me..
I haven’t managed more than 22hr fasts this week, as I’m on steroids and really hungry.. bit aiming fir 24hrs plus next week, then 48 hrs to break my plateau and get me nearer to my next goal.
Enjoy your weekend

@Jo Kyle - With a 'water only' fast you only drink water. I have done this a few days. This is considered a true fast. All other fasting is considered a 'modified fast'. Drinking home made bone broth is also consumed on a fast. Coffee can also be consumed on a fast. Generally you do want to consume ANY carbs on a fast. I however consume carbs through flavored coffee and miso soup. Therefore I call my fast a 'no solid food fast'.

@gaelicgal - Thanks for the support! You're doing great, especially while having to take the steroids. You are very strong.
