Hi Folks:
Just some random thoughts

I have cooked more in the last month than I ever have. And, I am getting better at it. But, it seems that one of the tricks is learning how to become more efficient. I try not to cook one serving. Instead shoot for two or four and save (frig or freezer) for other days.

Also, create some emergency meals that can be made in miubtes for those days where you come home late or work late. There are times I can't bear to cook and knowing I have some emergency meals makes me keep more to my WOE.

Gotta track your meals. I am always surprised where I find carbs and I misjudge different foods.

Look for substitutes (experiment) with the food you love but are on the no-no list. The first for me has to be bread and I have found a couple of things (Swedish breakfast buns and Trader Joe's Low Carb Tortilla) that will satisfy my bread cravings.

Drink hot tea or coffee after a meal - it seems to calm me down and reduce any hunger cravings I have.

Recognize rationalizations and have some strategies reay to combat. When I have to go over my daily calorie limit I might but I will try to eat something healthy.

Again, everyone is different and I would love to hear from you folks about your tips, tricks and techniques to stay the course.

Have a good day.

Bob

YES, efficiency. I don't know where to start. Have accepted that the first few months of this (well, at first I said a month) would be a huge ¥€$ and time sink. But now I need to find some basic meal formulas that I can bulk-prepare and pre-measure then freeze. Already have huge set of bento units and inserts, just need the food ideas. --- As well, I hope to find a shake recipe that works. Have ordered a big bag of Paleo Pro plain powder, sure hope that works out. ---And it's hard to keep eating so much when BH is around; they eat once a day, if that, because still well above goal weight. And don't make effort to enjoy food rather than just use it as fuel. Occasionally, I see them slumping and ask if they'll eat just one bite of protein and try some greens if I prepare something...and then they end up eating the entire plate and saying they hadn't realized they needed to eat and it was delicious, etc. Very appreciative of minor plating effort. :-)

Maybe there's a LCHF bulk cooking blog somewhere...

TBU9: Yes, I have been doing some bull cooking with a few of the recipes. Have to have all the containers that you need- I buy those restaurant take-out containers. I like to freeze soups, a thyme pork chop stir fry, chili, and chicken recipes. But, I like fresh salads and veggies but I think I need to try practicing whole meals that are frozen that include protein, fat and carbo. That way just pull, grab and pack and I'm out the door.

A key, for this decidedly undomesticated creature, is simplicity: readily-available protein selections for any meal (rolled slices of turkey breast and Lindon broil roast beef, refrigerated cans chicken chunks and albacore tuna packed in water, and hard-boiled eggs), fresh-frozen veggies, fresh fruit on hand. This makes it easy to assemble meals in moments!

I cut my food bill down next to nothing by taking advantage of the pork specials at my local H-E-B grocery store. Buy a broiler pan and roast your pork shoulders slow and low and you can make a week's worth of meals easy peasy.
