perks54's Journal, 28 July 2017

Hello:
I am at 1496 calories and my limit is 1500. What can I eat that is 4 calories. I think I can take a deep breath!

Anyway, a quick dinner snack:
One grilled Trader Jo Carb Tortilla
two scrambled eggs
two pieces bacon (trimmed fat)
A little green pepper, onion, tomato, garlic sauteed in olive oil.

I think I need to improve my lighting skills with photo - my food looks awful when it really looks pretty good in real life.
Bob

This page says my RDI is 1900 but I try not to exceeed 1500. My challenge is to eat 3 meals a day & a snack as I was slipping breakfast & lunch & just eating dinner about 5pm & then I would be really hungry again at 10 pm. Hence massive weight gain!

FatSecret's RDI is pretty much nonsense. It says I can eat 2500 calories a day and lose weight. That's prob true if I run 1/2 marathon everyday :) Sounds like your new plan makes sense

Thanks Bob. I guess its all an=bout developing good habits

I can just look at food and gain weight !,,

I've read several people saying the RDI here is no good, but mine seems to be just fine. I left it at 'sedentary' when I am not, maybe that is why? Your dinner looks really tasty!

Calories IN versus calories OUT doesn't matter if you're not eating the right foods. Studies show that you can lose weight eating MORE rather than LESS. It's about what you put into your mouth, not the calories. A male should be eating nothing less than 2,000 calories if he wants to lose or gain weight. Anything less than that is detrimental to your overall health. Eat clean. :) And your dinner looks amazing!

I wonder about the RDI on here too - or maybe it is the calorie counts on food items? I entered myself as "Sedentary" and it says I should consume 1200 calories per day to lose weight slowly. In reality, I seldom eat more than 900-1000 calories per day and am moderately active. Still, it can be a struggle to lose at times despite the fact that I also avoid starches - eating mostly protein and leafy greens. Sigh.

Ddfell - I started at 2500 calories and dropped 100 until I started really losing weight. When I hit 1500 the pounds started to come off. So, everyone is diff

To clarify I dropped 100 calories a day until I reached 1500 and started seeing results

Perks54 - i actually did well for quite awhile but lately have had troubles. I wonder sometimes if "protein bars" are my downfall. Think I eat more of them now than I used to and I wonder if carb counts on them are really higher than advertised ...

Definitely if you replace those protein bars with real food- you will feel more satisfied. I bet if you did that for 3 days (like a calorie equivalent bowl of buttered brocolli and cubed rotisserie chicken) you would be amazed at how much better it satisfies over the course of a day.

One diet lifesaver! 5 calories. What's one calorie among friends? I'm always moving around the house to get shadows and reflections out of photos too.

hmm. selecting the right goal in settings might be the answer to rdi? either lose , lose slowly , maintain etc. possibly you checked the wrong box?

looks like the light is behind you and you are shadowing the food. Try to have the food in the light.

I step outside to snap a pic. I just hold it out somewhere in the shade. Natural light is best and it has been staying light until after 8 these days. 😉
