loveshope26's Journal, 22 January 2017

I had a free workout and consultation with a personal trainer yesterday. I had an appointment at 9 am and he didn't get there until 10 am... So another personal trainer went ahead and worked with me for a hour. I sat down with the person I was supposed to meet with after the workout and went through meal plans and workouts. He was telling me I need 2000+ calories a day to lose a lb a day according to myfitnesspal. So last night I decided to download myfitnesspal and enter my info and see if he was right. Nope. To lose a lb a week I need 1800 calories and to gain weight (.5 lb gain a week) I need 2000+ calories. I am really hoping it was a mistake and not a way to get my business. I don't know.

An hour late AND wrong info from the trainer=not the trainer for me. That's a pretty big mistake...

I agree. I was actually was thinking about training with the one who actually did the workouts with me. He actually took time to explain things to me and to try to get to know me and my routine.

YES! I just started a couple of weeks ago with a trainer for the first time ever. It is a commitment both personal and money wise. If I didn't trust him or felt like I had to "second guess" everything he said I'd feel angry. I have no desire to waste my time or money!

If he was an hour late, walk away. You have the information you need (better than he does.) Good luck!

Unless you are lifting heavy weights, 1800 calories is quite a lot. Calories should be based in your lean body mass vs. your body fat. If they didn't use a caliper and measure you initial body fat, you will not accurately know how many calories you truly need.

Time to find another trainer because this one does not value your time.
