i started my dieting yesterday. i stuck to it..keeping my calories low and watching my carbs. Today has been a bit testing...but i think ive managed. i had to mix my evening meal with spaghetti just so's my mother could eat too..pffft...i wish she would just eat the same way im trying to eat. Shes diabetic and im not going to be. last year i was diagnosed with pre diabetes...today, im still refusing to take metformin ( i took it for lil while and stopped). my blood sugar averages 232. i want to bring this down. I havent been taking care of myself becuz of the stress in my life for the past year. I was doing good until July of 2016. from that point on, my sugar started climbing. I intend to keep going and i will take all this weight off. I have also been diagnosed with high blood pressure...not bad..but it needs some medicine. I really hate taking medication...i dunno if ill try it.ughh..i hate it. i dont get alot of exercise so im going to buy me a better exercise bike i can use every day for 30 minutes. i want to be healthy, i want to live long, i want to play with my grandbaby...im doing this all for myself and my loved ones. I miss my dad. he left us a year ago...he always talked to me about getting healthy. I miss him and i love him.

If you start the morning with a nice breakfast of non starchy veggies, protein and fats, try that, and see how you feel....this seems to keep my blood sugar in check throughout the day.

I miss my dad too. He has been gone since August 2015 and it is still a terrible thing for me to be without him. He used to be able to do a 90 second plank so that is my goal along with losing a total of 60 pounds.

Here for you! I've taken metformin for many years now. It's not so bad. My doc says it is helpful for weight loss. You may wish to give it a try (((hugs)))

Don't know how much you are able to walk but I read a very helpful diabetes website years ago and they said that even a 10 min walk each evening can help bring down blood sugar . Good luck! You can do this!!!!

So glad you're here and doing this for yourself! 😊

Rubato456 is right about walking. I feel the same way about metformin. I have issues with it. Taking wheat out of my diet reduced my sugars drastically. Mental clarity and extra energy were a bonus! I wish you well.

Best wishes, my family do not eat what I eat on the average. I make things so I can leave the carbs out of my portion or add fat etc like tacos = fixings on spinach or chicken with veggies and white BBQ sauce. You can do this.

So unfortunate about your father, but neglecting your health isn't going to help anyone including you. Probably should be on medications until you get your foot firmly into a healthier lifestyle and those numbers come down. Without the lifestyle changes and no medications you are risking a lot. All the best.
