izzypup68's Journal, 03 January 2016

We took a family road trip yesterday and I did not do so well. Somehow the word "fudge" just makes my brain forget the plan! :) Sadly, that was not the only poor decision of the day.

But, that day is gone and today has started out great so far. I got up early and made it to the gym before the Resolution Rush (although it was sure filling up by the time I was leaving). I came home and had a yogurt. I realized how long I have been straying from my plan when I couldn't find my yogurt on the recently eaten menu. That is just another sign to me to pull myself together and stay on track.

When I originally reached my goal, I wrote a list of what I did to keep as a reminder to me going forward. I am going to keep that list handy and read over it frequently to remind mindful in the coming days and weeks as I get back to a healthier way of eating.

Sounds like a kitchen overhaul and a trip to the grocery store is in order. You got this, Izzy. Just plan out menus and make a list. You got this!

Gyms know that everyone starts off the year coming in and working out but by mid May all of those hard bodies are gone to greener pastures. Keep going in early and working out. If you have to limit your days due to high traffic, just increase your workout times. If you can't get to the gym no excuses the open road is always there waiting for you so find a park or block where you can walk. Even if it's just making laps around your own block. There is an elderly man in my neighborhood that can only walk around the block. I sometimes sit on my balcony and cheer him on I even made a sign to hold up telling him one more lap to go. He smiles and waves at me as he walks by. I ran into him at the local store a couple of weeks and he said, " Your the lady who is always yelling to keep going". I said yes and your starting to get really buff. He smiled and said thanks for the encouragement. Never to old to exercise or to give encouragement. Keep working out.

One more thing the next time you take a road trip, pack a cooler with healthy choices so you are not tempted to buy junk food on the road. Always keep ice in the cooler and when you see a grocery store stop and reload. You will be happier when you reach your destination. (Smile)

I avoid the gym on Mondays and Tuesdays this time of year as it's simply too crazy. We have to work overtime a lot on Monday anyway so it makes it too late for me anyway. Good for you butterfly encouraging him on!!
