Good morning FS Friends

It is looking to be another glorious day by the Mighty Niagara River. Forecast is calling for cool but sunny for the most part. Yippee!

For those of you that have lost a fair bit of weight, have you noticed that your foot size has changed? I've been told that feet don't actually "lose" weight, that it is a result of swelling going down. Oddly though, where I couldn't wear my shoes with socks before, I have been doing so for the past 4 months and now the shoes (with orthotics) seem to be a bit wide and too long. It is a bit of a problem as I have terrible flat feet, frozen big toes and after the total hip replacement one of my legs is shorter than another (reminded always of the Frank Zappa song "Dancing Fool" as I write this). Since I'm spending a ton of time on my feet these days, the toe block in the orthotics doesn't seem to be working any more so at night those frozen joints ache like mad. Get up in the morning and can barely walk. Certainly a pain in the buttocks (or feet) in this case.

For those that are in their 20s or 30's, I would encourage you to try and get a handle on excess poundage sooner rather than later. Once you hit your 50s and 60s, this kind of damage cannot be undone (as far as I know).

As to food adventures today, will be doing a slow cooker curried pork tenderloin stew with root vegetables. No particular recipe so am going to wing it. Might be edible, might not. Fingers crossed!

Over and out.

I can only concur with your advice to get a handle on health sooner rather than later. I know there's only so much I can do to undo the damage to myself when I was younger. Greatest regret is drinking too much (not since 2012), but I also wish I had done more to retain athletic ability. It's harder to build back up in your 50s

Sounds like a fabulous dinner! Nothing like Fall stews, slow cooker meals 👍

Hey WritingWYO...Congratulations on conquering the drinking to excess! As to fitness, slow and steady. If you'd told me at the beginning of this year that I'd be able to do many of the things that I'm doing now, I'd have laughed. I admit that at 62, I'll never be the athlete I was in my teens, but as far as the "new normal" goes, I'll take it!

“Winging it” is more or less how I live my life day in and day out 😜

So glad you mentioned this. I have found that my flats shuffle and flop around when I walk now. My foot size went from B width to A width and now my size 10.5 feet look awkward and too long for my frame. But that's okay because my legs look great now so hopefully no one notices my feet. Lol. Im looking forward to reaching my goal weight so I can try wearing heels again. I love shoes. I even go shopping for men's shoes with my sons.

Thanks, Anni 😊 I can't take any credit for stopping drinking. It was a weird cold turkey thing where the universe kind of stepped in. I'll take it on faith that at least some of the strength will come back. I look back on some of the things I did in my mid-20s and can't believe I was able to do them. I doubt I'll ever throw 70-pound boxes of meat around in a freezer or backpack on skis again, but hopefully I can stay in good enough shape to keep hiking and skiing. That's the goal!

I'm sure that feet do shrink, just like your hands (when rings now fit that never used to).

Foot size definitely changed and it was more than i’d anticipated for sure! I went from a 9.5 to 8. I had to purge all my shoes and as a shoe girl, was a little sad to get rid of some of them. I knew it would change, just didn’t think 1.5 sizes
