Happy Sunday FS friends

Another coolish start to the day. Will be heading out shortly to weed the hillside facing my darling 95yo neighbour. I planted it early spring with a variety of bushes and blooming perennials to give her some visual interest. Am pleased with the result as with the rainy season we've had, things have grown like mad. With the growth of the plants also comes the growth of those dang weeds. Once weeded, I'll add some more mulch and call it a season for that small part of the yard.

We have some trouble in the neighbourhood. A wealthy, non Canadian purchased the property next to my neighbours home a few years back. 70 acres, part commercial (2 acres near the river) part protected wetlands, lots of forest. He rarely comes here and most certainly doesn't live here as there are no habitable dwellings (was a motel with little cabins back in the day). They are all rotting and falling apart. He has hired transient, undocumented migrants to live in some of those cabins with no running water or working plumbing to do work on the property. So far they have cut down the forest behind my neighbours homes (some gorgeous old sycamores now gone), started damaging the wetlands (snapping turtles are showing up here as there is nowhere for them to go). But the real problem is that the owner told my 95 yo neighbour that they would be using her power. She said no. A couple of nights ago in the dark, one of the transients went to the power outlet at the side of her home, tore down the vines, moved a downspout runoff then plugged an extension cord into her outlet. She was scared witless. As neighbours, we are now on call for her (kind of a mini neighbourhood watch as we are rural) and the police have been notified. What arsewipe thinks it is OK to terrorise a 95yo? She has always felt safe here. Now not so much. It makes me mad.

As to food, I'm going to get adventerous with those dang chicken breast strips (still have 4 packs - 6 lbs to use up) Have found a recipe for a keto Thai red curry chicken that I'll take a crack at (will serve over shirataki noodles) with veg. Looking forward to expanding my palate yet again.

Over and out.

Agreed. Not much at the moment we can do given the Town and the police have been notified. In the interim all we as neighbours can do is form a circle of protection around her (which was informally in place prior but not we all have each other on speed dial. Nobody messes with our dear Dolly.
