moko 13's Journal, 02 September 2023

The good news is that my A1C came down to 5.8 (was 6.3 in January). The blah news is that I am a little anemic (creatinine, hemoglobin, hematocrit and mch slightly low). My creatinine has been slightly low for years but this the first time the other stuff read low. Doctor thought it might be because I’m heading into menopause.
I’m feeling a little ick today. It’s been very chilly, wet weather and I tend to get in the mood to curl up under covers and do nothing. Plan is to get a workout accomplished in the next hour, though. Maybe that will warm me up. 😁

I'd check into that some more. going into menapause would not decrees your iron? being a Google doctor has saved me! i hope you feel better!

In some instances, going into menopause can decrease your iron temporarily. Well done on the drop in your A1C, losing weight dropped mine too.

Great job on your A1C! The iron issues you are having could be menopause but if so is it low enough for Dr to recommend taking a supplement?

Thanks ALL! Jenjabba - you’re probably right. Sorry, I didn’t mention the other part where even though my cycles are miles apart, they are very intense and sometimes 9 days long. Diana, the doc thought it would probably resolve after true menopause and she was encouraging me to add more iron rich food for now since I’m not in a state of exhaustion and the numbers are not super low.
