Good morning from Fort Erie Canada. To those that left lovely comments yesterday, thank you so much. Your support means the world and has really helped to know that others are walking the same path. Anybody who might be under the impression that this is easy, it is not. On the other hand, in a certain respect it is kind of fun too. For the first time in my life I am looking at this as a science experiment of kcal in, kcal out. FS makes it so easy to do it. Still working through what my kcal requirements are, as decades of diet on, diet off and an obstinate thyroid have slowed it to a crawl. Hopefully the weight training will convince my mitochondria to work more efficiently over time.

It's also the first time I'm not doing this to look better....you know, the "if only I were slim my life / my relationships would be better" mentality. For once it has zero to do with appearance, and everything to do with health. Not a fan of medications and if this works, maybe, just maybe the statins and blood pressure meds can be gone. Can never get rid of the thyroid meds, but that I'm willing to work with.

Beautiful sunny day today on the mighty Niagara River. Off to start weed whacking and weeding. My happy place.

Thanks for this: I forgot my recent diagnosis of hypothyroidism and have been wondering why I was slowing down so badly. Your stats however look like a ski slope. I stand in awe of your progress. :)

Hey Bubbles: I learned being hypo, that if you feel like you're moving through a thick pea soup, everything is hard, you're constantly tired and your brain isn't firing on all cylinders, odds are that your levothyroxin/Synthroid meds are at too low a level. Once I knew that this was my issue, always supported by subsequent blood work, that has normalised through several increased dosages. These days energy levels are up and the brain fog gone. Likely I'd been undiagnosed hypo for years, but as I age I'm learning what my body is supposed to function like. Ski slope = bunny hill. Glad of the slow and steady pace, certainly wish it would go faster, but it took decades to get here. Love FS though. So easy to calculate where I sit in terms of intake and easy to make adjustments along the way if I go off plan during the day.
