So I had a busy weekend and had to take part in a press conference this morning. I had not had any intention of trying on my "professional" clothes until this morning, just before I had to go up to the Capitol. I haven't had my suit on since December. Yesterday afternoon, my wife says: "You'd better try that suit on. You've lost a lot of weight." I didn't think it would be such a big deal. I've lost about 49 pounds since Christmas, but that suit was pretty tight then.

I put it on and it was HUGE. I then, in a panic, had to run to a haberdasher that was open to buy an "emergency" suit off the rack and was SHOCKED at how much smaller I was. I started last May at 319 and have lost 49 pounds as of today.

I think I have some kind of body dysmorphic disorder, because I don't SEE myself as any smaller. I look exactly the same in the mirror to myself. But when I put that suit on yesterday, it was obvious that my body has changed a LOT. Then, a few minutes ago, a colleague sent me a picture from the conference, and, because I didn't have my glasses on, I couldn't find myself for a second.

Then it hit me: I'm not a giant blob of crap anymore. I'm a medium-sized blob of crap.
