I've actually read that they did a study and the sweet spot for health is between 2500 and 7500 steps, so you're right in there 👍 Also read that the 10,000 steps thing was a marketing ploy by a Japanese pedometer maker 😜

@writingwyo wow well I hope that's true!! Sure would be great. I just upped my goal from 5k to 7500. I was gonna do 10 but my son suggested a smaller leap the first time n I thought that was wise.

Found it! Look for "Daily steps and health in adults: should we walk 10,000 steps a day for optimal well-being?" In Google Scholar. You'll only be able to get to the abstract unless your library gives you access to ProQuest. This is just one study, though, although it's fairly recent.
