Back from working on the house in Reed City. We've had moles digging all around the foundation and they caused a small leak in the basement - around here we call it a "Michigan basement", which means more like a cellar. It's not a nice concrete block basement like newer houses have. This house was built in 1882 so I should be glad it's in as good a shape as it is. Anyway, GoodMan did some work with concrete to patch the hole and I did a lot of scrubbing and cleaning to make it presentable. Now we have to do some patch and fill work around the outside of the house to keep those moles at bay.

While there GoodMan went to a men's bible study that he used to attend when we lived in Reed City. They were all glad to see him and catch up on all the guy-stuff they talk about. I stayed back and scrubbed the basement floor. On one of my trips upstairs to change the water in my bucket I noticed eyes peering in the windows...a bit of a shock! It was a couple looking in the windows to check out the house for sale. They didn't know anyone was there. Nice couple. I showed them around the "Grand Old Lady" and they seemed to really like it. He just retired from the Army and she is from Germany. He told me he promised to find her an old house if she would agree to live in the U.S. I hope they put an offer on the house. They seem like just the kind of people I'd like to see live there, and that means I don't have to worry about it being empty during the winter.

I had planned to use my paint sprayer to stain the gazebo, but time got away from us and GoodMan had to be back in Big Rapids for a meeting at work. I mentioned to the couple who were looking at the house that I planned to freshen the stain on the gazebo, and the husband told me, "My wife already has plans to paint it mint green." ~ I guess I'll leave it alone for a while and see if they really put in an offer on the house. I can't imagine it painted...but then I wonder if it might look more German to her if it is painted? Anyway, I don't care if they paint it purple...as long as they love it as much as I did. When it was built we had a plaque made for it that said "Built in 2010 for Richard who loves his garden, and Denise who loves her gardener." I really wanted to eat our packed lunch in the gazebo today before we left for home, but time didn't allow and we ate in the car on the way home.

I'm off to do a couple of loads of laundry and ride my exercise bike before GoodMan gets home from his meeting. Later we will swim in what must be like a giant hot tub since GoodMan forgot he left the pool heater on all night.

I hope everyone is successful in their FS journey today!

I hope you get the old place sold. Will you leave the plaque?

Thanks DairyKing. I hope it sells soon too. I doubt the new owners will want the plaque, but I'm not sure what I'd do with it at the new house. We'll see, I guess.
