alanpfd's Journal, 02 November 2013

It says it's been 198 days since I last weighed in. It's depressing to face how badly I've let things slide.
I decided today is the day I get back on track. Actually, I had decided to start last Tuesday -- I had three days off from work, which sounded like a perfect opportunity to really focus, but then I came down with a wicked cold that kept me in bed for two of my three days off. I'm feeling a lot better now, so I've set off on this journey once again.
I feel like I know perfectly well what I need to do to successfully lose weight. It's really just a matter of doing it no matter what comes up that makes me wanted to throw in the towel. One immediate problem is that I'm currently without a gym. The one I had been going to kept raising their already outrageous fees until I finally got fed up and quit. If the weather cooperates, I hope to walk the four kilometers to work three or four times a week, but as it gets colder, I'm going to have to find a better solution.
Anyway, one successful day down and a lifetime to go. Wish me luck!

Good for you Alan I also am a backslider and I am starting over on Monday. Good luck Also if you are over 55 years old some insurance policies will offer you a free gym membership as part of their prevention plan. Mine is called Silver Sneakers through Humana.

Good to hear from you, jetgemini. You're one of the few people still active since I was last here. That's great that your insurance will pay for a gym membership. Over here in Japan, we all have health insurance, but it doesn't include those kinds of perks. If I'm not able to get into the habit of walking to work, I'll probably go back to the place I was several years ago. It was reasonably priced and I liked the atmosphere, but I quit because it is rather inconveniently located.
