Raining today, a steady chilly rain. And wouldn't you know it, the day I get the car, it decides to go blooie again. At least I made it home!! I did get to go to the gym too. Stupid car....I want to cuss it so bad, but I won't. I had to text my neighbor that the car died, and she would have to catch the bus. I then rounded up my neighbor from up the street, and we are waiting for the rain to stop somewhat, so I can get the battery charged, and that belt cleaned off!!! Otherwise, I can't go get the hubby when he gets off work!

Despite all of that, I did manage to get to the gym and have a good workout in the pool, a good soak in the hot tub, and a good 10 minutes in the dry sauna!! I'm all warmed up now! I took the country sausage from the freezer, and have it thawing. I think it will be a good day to make the sausage gravy and biscuits for the hubs tonight. Its going to be a carb day and night for me....I'm going to make a loaf of beer bread, and I'm going to try a peasant bread too. I have a good bit of whole wheat flour, so we'll see how it turns out.

I hope everyone is having a good day today!! Enjoy it!!

Cold & Rainy days seem to demand carbs, don't they? Is that a connection from childhood or do you think it's physiological? I can't ever recall a cold rainy day and thinking 'mmmm... squash...' unless I begin to imagine a squash casserole with cornbread, onions and cheese....

I wonder that too, Bella. I think it may just be a physiological thing. With the coming cold, you would stock up and preserve as much food as you could, and you would tend to eat carb rich foods to keep you warm, and the added weight that you may gain would do the same thing. Enough stored energy to make it through the winter.

Good that you made it to the gym despite the obstacles life threw at you today :)

Great job on making it to they gym. I don't know how you cook and bake all those wonderful things~ the smell alone would send me down "carb indulgence road". I admire your will power. Warm, baked bread is a danger zone for me though and I know it. Today my hubby went through Wendy's drive through and bought 2 burgers and fry. I sat in the truck playing Candy crush on my phone till he was done and we could go to Walmart and get my healthy groceries. The fast food smell seemed yucky to me so I was good with that. I was hungry when I arrived home and devoured a tuna sandwich, which was yummy. I have a baked chicken recipe I am going to try tonight. Sprinkle the chicken with basil and garlic, place a piece of mozzarella cheese on it, roll and bake 30 minutes.

Chilly here, too, Lu. The warm fresh bread sounds so good. My Mom used to make it the same day she made homemade vegetable soup. I used to love dipping the buttered bread in the broth. Wow, what memories. Makes me miss my Mom. <3 Phyllis, I may try that chicken recipe. Sounds delicious. Thanks for sharing.
