It looks like I'm going to have to adjust my eating.....and try to eat a little more than usual to at least meet a 1200 calorie diet.
My RDI for here is 2300 calories a day. That is a lot for me anyway!!! I also have to adjust when I eat most of my calories. I only have my husband and I to cook for, and he needs to GAIN a little weight,!! The man is 6'1" and weighs maybe 160, and eats a lot!!! Of course, he's the only one working, and he's a Master Plumber, so he burns off most if not all of the calories he eats in a day.

Me, on the other hand, hasn't worked since 2005. and I have COPD, osteoarthritis in my back, hips, knees and ankles, and fibromyalgia.I also have 1 herniated disc and 2 bulging disc's in my lower back. My copd consists of emphysema and chronic bronchitis. The emphysema is my fault, but I quit smoking 5 1/2 years ago. I still have breathing issues. I have to approach exercise from a totally different angle.

I have become quite sedentary, which I am working to overcome. It really hurts when I try to walk any distance, and I get out of breath quickly. I know that loosing weight is going to help my stamina greatly!

My major problem is that I can go most of the day without eating, or eating very little, then eating junk and snacking all night after supper.

I never counted calories before, I just ate smaller portions, and ate more fresh fruit and more vegetables, both fresh and cooked. Of course that was some years ago, when I could exercise and work, and burn the calories!

This time, this is a whole new game!! All new rules!! And tons of questions....
1. How do I exercise when I can't breathe well??
2. How do I exercise and not injure myself?
3. How do I exercise with arthritis??
4. How do I cook meals that doesn't harbor all my calories until supper??
5. How can I separate my meals from my husbands???
6. How do I resolve my biggest issue with eating at night???

I have been trying to get rid of all the processed foods in our house, and have good, wholesome foods instead. I even have a small garden planted, so I can preserve (can) some good food, with out all the preservatives and chemicals!

I even got rid of the artificial sweeteners. No more Splenda. et al!!! Now I use Stevia in the Raw. All natural sweetener, 0 calories.
No more diet sodas or sugar free items in my house.
I researched diet drinks and artificial sweeteners, and they actually cause more problems and weight issues than they are "supposed" to solve!! They also contribute to problems like fibromyalgia.

Our water here doesn't have fluoride in it, but I still try to filter my water. Since then, and with getting rid of the Splenda, (et al) I have not had too much in the way of a fibro fog or flare! But all that is for another time and not for right now.

Being able to journal, and to put all my feelings down "on paper" as it were, goes along way to help me get motivated and to say that way.

I am committing myself to this weight loss, and with how I am doing it.
1. Drink more water. I fill a gallon jug, then add 1/8 cup of lemon juice. Just enough to flavor it slightly.
Great for your appetite control. and getting in the water you need each day!
2. I allow myself 1 can of Pepsi Throwback (made with sugar, not corn syrup) a day. I have this with my supper.
3. Smaller portions!!!
4. Treating myself to eating out once in a while!! ( I have a tip about this)
5. Increasing my mobility and exercising!!! ( in a swimming pool when I can)
6. Limiting my intake of bread and potatoes.
7. Increasing the amount of fresh fruit and fresh veggies I eat..
8. Weighing myself one day a week!!!

Thats primarily it.
The game plan.
Lets see if I can make it work!!

And I would welcome any Buddies!!
