Today features one of the six meals I will have all year that is "off-plan" for Atkins (my son's birthday)! All of these were planned before I started as relief valves. Sometimes these things kick metabolism into motion, just because they're different. What I believe it will do for me is make the scale jump up 3-4 lbs, and I'll be lucky if I'm back "down" to my weigh-in from this morning. But, this is something I'm going to be doing all my life, so for our lunch today, I'm going to enjoy myself. :) (No take-home containers!)

Diet Calendar Entry for 29 August 2010:

You'll be fine. In 2003, when I lost 100 pounds eating low-carb, I ate the usual Thanksgiving meal (and leftovers the next day) and again ate a typical Christmas Day meal and I continued to lose - my loss didn't even slow down and if memory serves I lost a little more than usual during the week following the meals. I think what helps is not having the food at your house - have the dinner/meal at someone else's house or at a restaurant, then any leftovers are not calling your name from the fridge lol

Good for you. What a great idea. I get so freaked out by going off plan even a little bit. It is such a better idea to accept that this is a lifetime plan and that it is better to just live and not stress out about it! Happy Birthday to your son!

I totally believe we need to allow ourselves these days once in a while. Not on a regular basis or anything. But there are special occasions when we need to just enjoy ourselves and not worry about it.
