Why do I do this! Ugh. Saw the doctor last week and have lost 21 pounds and the doctor is very happy. She tells me to just keep doing what you are doing. This is Wednesday. Well, by Friday night I am eating Raising Cane's 3-piece meal, popcorn popped in oil with butter (a large serving) and a small bag of Trolli sour brite crawlers...a 2,000+ calorie binge. Why when things are going well, do I sabotage myself. I just don't understand. I am not getting near the scale for a few days until I hopefully recover from this binge. I feel like a complete failure and a fraud. How can I really be a successful dieter and give advice to others when I do shit like this. Ugh ugh ugh.

Because you are not perfect? No biggie. Tomorrow is another day. Grats on making your Dr. happy 😃 and a pat on the back for a job well done 👍!

Because you are allowed those days. Don’t get down on yourself. Just get back in the grove and have another cheat next month! Making things negative will have a very bad impact on you. Enjoy your cheat days. Just limit them.

Advice can come from our shortcomings too. Learning from mistakes.

Wow! None of that! No one here is expecting you to be perfect and everyone here is still going to want advise on what has been working for you because it HAS been working. This is just a blip! You are going to get right back on that wagon and we all have faith in you!

Because knowing where you’ve gone wrong is just as important as knowing when you’ve done right.

Remember you are still breaking hardwired habits. It’s totally normal and no easy feat! Happens to me too. Just get back on the horse tomorrow. You got this!

The last two weeks I put your tiny little 'binge' to shame. Both weeks I had an unplanned 3k+ calorie day. Just made up for it by the end of the week and ended up losing about 1.5 pounds each week. One day of slightly higher calories means nada. One day of LOT of calories means nada. One day doesn't make or break a diet.

2k? That isn't anything to get too concerned with. Listen to Lzenn.

Yeah I hear you. I was binge eating corn flakes last night when I knew that I was doing well and losing like crazy. Hang in there and keep trying!

"Saboteur! Fraud!" I hear that stuff ringing in my head, too. "Progress, not perfection" is a better motto! There's a *great* essay on the theme, at https://www.brightontheday.com/progress-not-perfection/

Same here. I do binge from time to time upwards of 2k Kcals. Sucks a lot, but the next day I pick myself up and keep going. I don't feel guilty anymore- this is important. Never beat yourself up. Make up for it the next day. I lost a lot of weight and I'm almost there. Binging 2k Kcals 1 day will not throw all your work overboard. If you're not mentally there- take a small break from your current WOE.

I’ve done a 10k binge and recovery is tough. It could be worse. You’re not a fraud. You went off the plan- your plan. You can definitely plan to have Trolli candy, buttered popcorn and whatever you want sweetheart. Stay true to counting calories and you will continue to lose. I’ve maintained a weight I’m comfortable with by eating at my RDI 2,500+400 (for baby, I’m pregnant). I lost massive weight at eating 2,000 - 1,800 calories consistently. I’d still “calorie cycle” and bump it up a notch or down a notch a random day a week. You’re definitely doing great!

2000-3000 calories is nothing compared with your weight, perhaps it actually will do good to you. We all need a diet break. I have had unplanned 4000-5000 calories too. Last week I started my Monday with 4000 calories. You just don't need to feel guilty or ashamed. Get back on the horse, it's all you need.

I like what Draglist has done. He planned an intentional time period off his program, and he ate what he wanted to, knowing he would return to his program and fast, too. I think his idea is good in that there would b no guilt feelings nor ugh ugh ugh This idea may help you and n the future. Just a thought.

Thank you for the support. Good to hear kind words when we are beating ourselves up on the inside. Feeling much better today. I will weigh tomorrow.

So we are about the same weight. I try to stay around 1400 calories a day, but as long as I don't go over 2500 (and make sure that's not a daily thing), I figure I'm still losing. Honestly your splurge sounds greater than 3000 to me, but so what. This is the rest of our lives and we are going to have times where we eat a ton of calories. My skinny friends do it all the time. This is reality. You're doing so so good!

I self sabotage too... Like I'm two different people. Just get back on it. That's what's most important. Don't let one day turn into two or five or weeks.

A while back, @DEADPOOL responded to a post similar to yours, pointing out how this is most likely something we will be doing the rest of our lives, depending on your age, that could be any where from 20 to 50 years. That comes out to 20 - 50 thousand meals. He made the point, that's not necessary to fret over one meal, one day, even one week of going off track, in relation to all the meals that you are going to consume. Of course I am paraphrasing. Hope this perspective helps you to not be too hard on yourself. ❤

YES SIS, YOU ARE NOT ALONE, I DO THIS WEEKLY. BUT I AM LEARNING MY WORTH AND THAT GOD WANTS ME TO BE HEALTHY AND HE IS A REWARDER OF THOSE WHO SEEK HIM. WE ALL MAKE MISTAKES, 7 TIMES WE FALL BUT WE GET BACK UP 7 MORE TIMES AS WELL.
