Happy Friday to all. I finally saw the surgeon and am scheduled for a knee arthroscopy with debridement and meniscectomy next Friday the 15th. I am praying for a successful surgery and speedy recovery. I then hope to add some physical activity such as walking to my daily routine.

The scale is still not moving. As others mentioned on a previous post I made, I think I need to be more exact on my calorie counts. I am logging everything I eat, but estimating ounces, grams, cups, etc. of those items. I have found my old food scale and dusted it off. Now, I just need to start using it. If that does not help, I will re-evaluate my caloric intake. The main thing is, I will not give up. My life depends on this.

Also, I am snacking in the middle of the night again. Ugh. Old habits! I am logging the calories, but seeing my intake creeping up. I know it is stress related with the pain, surgery and career situation. I just need to refrain when that urge hits. I mean I am literally sleeping for a couple of hours, wake up, go to the kitchen and snack, then back to bed. If I don't get the snack, I seem to lay their for hours not being able to go back to sleep. Once I fill my tummy, off to sleep I go. I just don't understand it.

Good luck with the surgery and all it entails. Late night snacking easily becomes a habit for me. I have to avoid it, and if I do it I have to quit cold turkey and basically go through withdrawal discomfort before I stop.

It is sooo good that you are logging your food! Without this, how can you make good decisions regarding *your* body? Now, look at your macros. I had a good look at mine, and realized that when I had high protein AND carbs I did not lose weight. I dropped my protein levels and, while consuming the same calories as previous weeks, finally started losing 'net pounds' again. Good luck!

My daughter had that surgery on her left knee last summer and she was amazed at how much better she felt afterwards. She hadn't realized how much pain she had gotten use to having. I use my food scale to measure because while I'm getting better at estimating, I still don't trust my judgement, especially when I'm hungry. :D But I also use it just for day to day cooking too since weight is a better measurement than cups.
