Wow I've lost 20 lb over the last 2 years. It took the 10 years before that to put those pounds on - just not paying any attention and eating whatever I wanted and what was easy. With age and a little less activity each year, my metabolism slowed a bit each year too. That's right just 2 lbs a year really adds up. So a change was required. It was really just by keeping track of what I eat that helped me lose it. I didn't keep track every day. I started counting everyething - intake and expended. Then I took months off at a time. If I noticed a long flat spot or a maybe gained a pound back. I started counting again. Now I have a pretty good idea of how many calories I intake without actually counting. It's the act of counting that gets me back on track though. While I am counting I lose more. When I am not, basically I lose at a slower weight and maintain. These last few weeks are more about changing what I eat. We are trying to eat more vegetables and heart healthy whole foods. We are trying to make whole foods more of a way of life.
