momma6224's Journal, 10 October 2018

I haven’t eaten a full day of low carb/high fat for over a month. I know I feel better when I do so why is it so darn difficult?! The weather has turned cold and dark and I just want to eat and hibernate. I weighed 127 this morning—not wanting to officially log it because it makes me feel like I’m failing when really I have stayed below 130 since June. 130 was my original goal but I’ve been as low as 121 and would like to stay closer to 120 so I have some wiggle room. I did go to the gym Saturday—first time in a month and it felt good—hope to get there again today. I just feel old and blah and need some encouragement from my lovely FS friends 🙂

I know what you mean about the weather changing so you just want to eat and sleep. Thats all I want to do too!!! You have done so well, you made your goal!! You have maintained and been a great motivator for so many, myself included!! You just need to remember the reason behind your goal, what made you push yourself that far, that hard? Grab onto that and get back in there!!

Hey nice to see you, momma! Missed you! You are NOT failing, but you know that "getting back to basics" may be in order. Do what you already know works for you. I always say i think i must be part bear bc when it turns cold and dark my program goes out the window. Don't be a stranger!

Thanks guys! Reading your words of encouragement helps so much. It’s easy to feel very alone as a stay at home mom.

You may be focusing on the scale too much. Staying below 130 for 3+ months is something to be proud of! Do you like the way you feel, look and how your clothes fit?

Momma- it's after 11am over here and still in pjs. I may make it an all day pj day. You are back on here and you know, we all know what an amazing job to have done, so getting back on track will happen for you, probably sooner and easier than you think. You can do this and I am certain you are still looking gorgeous! <3

I agree about the gym. It’s good for lifting your mood. I’m an isolated stay at home mom, too, and I’d get depressed if I didn’t go to the gym.

Our goal is to live and enjoy our adventure - which is exactly what you are doing. In reality it is a success. We set goals and work to reach them - then we set new goals. I am glad to see you back and look forward to seeing you on this journey.

Good for you by going to the gym. Denver is dark and cold today. Little snow flurries. Just made a nice cup of coffee. Think of sunshine days. Maybe draw a little sun and put it around the house.... A little crazy stuff doesn't hurt...

I was just thinking this morning while eating breakfast that "Pre-January Resolutions" might be good about now. You've done great with maintenance, which is a problem for many. Glad to see you back!

I think several of us are struggling right now-- I know I am. I don't post as I make it half way through the day then -- BAM, I eat entirely too much of all the wrong foods. There's always tomorrow. I know we can do it; it's just so difficult! Hang in there, Momma6224. You are my inspiration☺.

I think maintaining is harder than losing weight. When I am losing weight I am determined and dedicated. When I reached my goal weight years ago after a successful diet I was happy to stay within a 5 pound range. I've been gaining for the past couple months but hope to start losing again. And this is a hard time of year to eat good, I always want heavier meals in the fall and winter. Maybe just change your WOE to something that will work for maintaining - like just pay attention to eating smaller portions and no 2nd helpings. Just an idea, may not work for you but it's how I got through the holidays last year.

Thank you all so much for the recommendations and support! Your kindness keeps me going. This is definitely a battle I will keep fighting—maintenance is just a bit trickier to manage.

You're back to journaling and that may be the key!
