Sparks1971's Journal, 17 May 2018

I'm not sure how I feel about the last two days. I am primarily concentrating on doing OMAD but trying not to let my carb intake get out of control, with the eventual goal of staying under 20 net carbs a day. For the last two days, I've come under on my calorie counts but over on my carbs (way over). The calorie counts are pretty low; 500-600 below my limit. I don't think that is a good thing. Some how I need to up my fat, lower my carbs and come closer to my calories. I'm also using Hello Fresh right now due to a combination of cooking/meal planning burn out and a crazy work schedule/load. So if anyone has any Hello Fresh higher fat lower carb favorites they want to share or any tips on how to balance out my macros better please share.

I cannot imagine how anyone stays at 20 carbs a day? Even fruit has carbs in it! I checked out how many carbs you should take in for a 1200 cal diet and that is 195 a day and I always manage to stay below that but not at 20 never! Tools a 500 cal diet is way too low and not healthy at all… So please be careful with that.

Remember that fresh veggies especially the green leafy ones are low in carbs. Also, the Hello Fresh gives the total for your whole meal but you can break it up and log separately to see where you are getting the carbs from. I try - I found some weaknesses in my plan by looking at where the bad macros were coming from.

Healthy fat is anything natural, which eliminates almost all vegetable oils. I carry olive oil with me everywhere so that I can add enough oil to round out my calories. Like Abbadabba said, eat green leafy vegetables. Also, stay as far away from grains as you can.

I think you really need to talk to a dietician or somebody to explain to you where carbs come from and how to avoid them. Number one: no bread. That means pizza dough. Number two: no white rice. If you get some in the Hello Fresh DON'T EAT IT! Give it to your family or the dog or just throw it out. Or save it until you somehow will only have rice as the carb for the day. Those Hello Fresh meals can be broken down to their components and you can figure out which parts to avoid to stop eating simple carbs. @cuddlyme Amazingly, many people do the keto diet successfully and are very happy about it.

Get some Irish butter! You can melt it over ANYTHING and it has a higher fat content than regular butter.

Since logging my food I am amazed at the amount of carbs that are in foods

I avoid carbs at lunch, save them up for veggies or salad with dinner. I do pretty well at staying below 20g per day.

I eat salad for carbs - lettuce goes a long way - salad dressing is high in fat say ranch - eat with some protein chicken, buffalo chicken, ham , roast beef etc and it is very balanced - tomatoes, cucumbers - 20g per day is a good goal - I stay with mostly broccoli, onions, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, green beans, do some olives and mushrooms but got to watch those - I don't vary on that but do a little corn- - Good Luck and relax, just staying with it is king - We try to do everything now - The results are coming - WHEN NOT IF

I try to stay between 5 - 10% carbs, 70% fat and as close to 20% protein as I can get. I balance it out with Protein Fat Bombs. Right now I have caramel/pecan using butter, coconut oil, protein powder, Carmel flavoring, and 1/2&1/2. Keep them in the freezer. I often use crunchy peanut better instead of caramel flavoring. I use heavy cream when I have it. My candy. Depending on my calorie count for the day I keep it down to 2 or 3.

40% proteins, 40% carbs, 20% fat, counting calories. You cant decrease your carbs that much, not healthy. With such a low amount of carbs you may feel out of energy or dizzy. If you want to loose weight more quickly, is better to complement with 1 hour exercise. But dont mess big time on the proportion of carbs, just an advice.
