skinnyminilinny's Journal, 31 December 2019

I redid my RDI based on my age, height, weight, and activity. It said 1400 calories per day. So if I want to lose weight I need to be at least a 500 calorie deficit each day. Is that correct? I have been staying near 1000 to 1100 calories a day and it seems like a maintenance to me. I have not lost any weight on that many calories.
209.2 lb Lost so far: 22.8 lb.    Still to go: 40.2 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Diet Calendar Entry for 31 December 2019:

I think you are supposed to consume the 1400 per day. That's the way I understand it.

I lose eating between 1,500 and 1700 calories per day without exercise. With exercise I lose while consuming 1,700 to 1,900 calories. I am 53 and only 4'11". I thought I remembered that you are also petit so maybe it will help. I do notice if I eat too few calories I don't lose.

There is a web site called Calculator.net. They have a fitness & health section that is very helpful. Try their BMR calculator and calorie calculator.

I'm at 1400 too. I think it'll work. I'm sure I consume way more that that regularly but it was difficult for me to stay within it today.

Thank you everyone for the suggestions. I will look at all of them and try them and see if I could figure it out. I've been at this weight now for 4 months. Doesn't want to budge.

Hi Skinnyminilinny, firstly, you can calculate how much calories you consume per day from all your activities including sleep by using this app. And then, in order to reduce weight, you should deduct 500 kcal from the calculated calorie that you consume, which should be your reference of food intake. In my case, I consume 2000 kcal per day. During weight reduction period, I took 1400~1500 kcal per day. Currently, to maintain my weight, I consume 2000, and I take 2000.

Could be the meds. I have been eating below my RDI since starting but until I’m tapered off of prednisone it’s not surprising to me I’m not losing.

I have a -38 resting metabolism. My RDA is 2600. I try to keep it under 1000. Not hard when I do OMAD and IF. Had one week when I ate only around 4,000 for the entire week. I lost 7 pounds over the last month. . . Every"body" is different. Keep lowering until you hit the caloric intake that works for you.

How long have you been at 1000 per day with no weight loss

From personal experience I have learned that if I set my calorie intake too low I stop losing weight. I have been told that this is because my body thinks it is in starvation mode and starts hanging on to fat as emergency fuel. As my weight loss did start up again once I increased my cals to 1600 I think this explanation was correct for me - maybe it's the same for you. Best wishes for 2020.

what works for me is eating huge, and I mean HUGE amounts of green veg and salads.....instead of any other food.........then your body feels full and it starts the weight loss up again

Long term weight loss is rarely about calorie control (food addicts notwithstanding). Timing and quality of food are vastly more important.

Recently I have lost weight on higher calories with net carbs below 30 from mostly green veggies and increased cococnut oil or MCT oil. Greens cooked in oil are satisfying as is a green salad with a small portion of animal non dairy protein with MCT oil and balsamic vinegar.

Thank you Adam Eve God, I have been less than a thousand for at least four months. I take a lot of prednisone and other medications that I think hinder weight loss. I've tried eating 1000 up to 1400 hundred a couple times but nothing changed then either.
