NanaKP's Journal, 12 June 2017

I have been trying to write for a while now but things keep preventing it. I have tried posting to some but my tablet keeps either cutting me off, or not bringing up a keyboard. Yesterday my wifi gave me the finger so I couldn't even get through while resting in bed. The other problem is time restraint. Been an extremely busy week. A good week. I had a granddaughter graduate from high school on Tuesday, and one graduate on Wednesday. Getting myself together enough to get dressed, and out of here was a struggle but well worth it. Sophie, my son's daughter graduated on Tuesday. Because her class size is so small, they were able to hold it in the auditorium. BUT Gaby's graduation was on Wed with a large class. The graduation was @ 18:00. Her sister, Rosie called me at quarter of and asked if I was going. I explained that Gaby could not get enough tickets so I would remain home. Rose told me that she had procured one for me and her husband was will to pick me up but she had to pick him up first. I said ok if she would help me finish dressing after she picked him up. So, I pulled my almost naked body out of my reclining chair and went in search of something to wear. I was fortunate in that the clothes I had worn for the graduation the night before were hanging there staring at me. So I rushed into them, grabbed my makeup bag and was almost ready when Rose and Jose got here to pick me up. Got to the school to discover no parking. Drove for a long time and decided to go out to eat instead because there was no place to park. We turned up the next street and there was an attendant calling people into a lot. I didn't even realize until I was out of the car that the football field was a loooooooooong way away. I thought I was going to die by the time we got there. I think I walked more then than I had walked last year in total. Not only that, I had to walk fast enough to keep up with the kids. Then after the ceremony, Rosie decided we needed to cross the field to where Gaby was. So off I hoofed across the field and then back again so that Rose could pick me up from the other parking lot. I was totally exhausted and proud of myself. I couldn't walk from my chair to the bathroom the beginning of the year. I have basically been housebound for 3 or 4 years due to the pain. Today was another exciting day for me. Ern and I have been taking about moving to a Senior living facility and I had scheduled us a meeting today. We met their representative for lunch today in their cafeteria. They gave us a menu and said if there was something else we prefered, they will try to fill it. I didn't need that however. They had a Cranberry and Candied Pecan Chicken Salad. It was great. The representative I spoke with on the phone (Rhonda) was not the one we met (Joan), but Rhonda had filled Joan in on our conversation. After lunch, the waitress came over and read us a list of desserts. Joan asked if she had a fruit plate because Rhonda told her that I had suggested that. So, We had a very nice plate of assorted fruit. Watermelon, cantaloupe, grapes, pineapple, and a few more, all sliced nicely and presented nicely. I also asked for a cookie. When we were done and ready to explore the campus and rooms, Joan wanted to give me some cookies to take. Good girl that I am, I said, "No thank you." Patting self on the back as cookies are one of my trigger foods. We then went on our tour. At one time Joan said, "At this point, we have walked a 1/4 mile. WOW! I'm walking again, and this time I'm pushing a very large man in a wheelchair. Do you think I'm exhausted tonight? Oh Yeah. Ern even talked about our tour tonight. He actually seems like he might want to do this. A definite surprise for me. So many great things there. My only concern, except for the cost is that it is so much smaller than our home. It has bigger closets though. lol. I kept thinking the kitchen was so small, but then realized that three meals per day were included in the cost, so no large food prep and no dishes. These are the reasons, no keyboard access, and too many obligations, that have kept me from posting. I have been reading some. Hope everyone has a great week.
