RubyRedSox's Journal, 19 November 2011

Well, it's Saturday. Seems like we just had one lol. All my weeks are running together, I swear. Woke up at 6:15, checked my blood sugar which was 94, ate a big breakfast then did my 3000 steps on my wii. I'm trying to do that twice a day if I can.

Today is soup day, meaning I'm making another BIG batch of my own asian style soup. I've been making chicken and fish soups but today I'm finishing up making a beef soup. So yesterday I cooked up broth from 1.5 lbs of beef bones. It took most of the day to get the marrow and nutrients properly cooked out. I've never bothered making actual stock as that calls for adding carrots, onions and the like to cook with the bones only to toss it out. I just prefer keeping all my veggies in the soup!

Got my decaf in hand and I'm dressed so that's something lol. Well, it's nearly 9a.m. Time to hit it.

May you have a splendid weekend!
♥ Ruby

Lol @ Yvonne. What a relief I'm not the only one who wondered at this procedure. I always thought that was so odd. Putting perfectly good veggies into the broth only to strain them out so I could make...soup. I've always been like, huh?? And thanks for adding me. Geeze, we should've buddied up long ago lol!

I also thought I was the only one who wondered about that. Now what I do is save my vegetable scraps-- onion skins and ends, potato or winter squash peels, broccoli stems, carrot and celery ends, etc.-- in the freezer and make veggie stock whenever I have a pot full. This makes a much more flavorful and varied stock anyway and it's free!
