Ok guys, i need more instruction on fasting. If i eat from 12p to 8pm and fast from 8pm to 12pm, isnt 730p or 8p too late to be eating? that is usually the soonest i can eat if i go to the gym.

I think it is more about keeping the fasting going as long as possible as opposed to eating later in the day.

I see a lot of IF'ers eating like you. I like to be done with eating by 6 PM and I usually go to bed by 10 PM. It's got to be tough when you're trying to get in workouts after work.

Tina, I have a very short eating window, last night I finally started eating my dinner at about 8:30 and didn't finish chewing till about 9:15. I had so many chores to do before dark that I just could not stop to fix dinner. Going to sleep on a full stomach does not seem to bother me any and I believe that resting while digesting is good for you. The reason I think that is because my body tells me so, after eating I don't want to do anything, even with low carb meals and no carb spike and drop. I still get drowsy and want to take a nap after eating. I don't know about what's best or what's considered proper but I sleep well and wake up refreshed and not hungry. For me eating close to bedtime is not a problem.

ok. well i guess i will see when i weigh in today. i am so worried. but that is how i am...i worry about stuff i shouldnt.

Sorry I can't help you with fasting. I have never done it. Some of my friends have though. I am interested to see how you do. I love to eat and I could never fast. lol I would feel sick to my stomach and way too deprived. I am not that disciplined. I wish you lots of luck and look forward to hearing about your journey.

I worry about stuff like that too Tina. But my new favorite saying is..."it is what it is". I am visiting at my bro's house and we didn't eat till about 8 last night, and I am usually finished by 7. Oh well, guess I will just push my fast a little longer today. We just have to try our best every day, do what we can and what fits into our schedule KNOWING that we won't be 100% and be okay with that. I am preaching to the choir right now because I was seriously freaking our last night as I ate dinner... LOL

im up at 4am..so for me i try an eat between 430am and 2pm..after that im fasting.. that close to a 14 hour fast..

Hi navymom, please don't worry about your weigh in, sometimes they are up a little but your working on new information and there is tweaking you will/are doing. There are so many takes on fasting... It could take a little time to learn what you specifically respond to and then it will take off :)

There is no right or wrong way to do intermittent fasting there also is no medical proof that eating late does anything other than make it more difficult to sleep at night you should not push yourself if you're hungry eat but continue to eat low carb I don't think that we can go forever just doing intermittent fasting eating right is the best way

Doing the 5:2 but my eating window has gradually moved to 12p to 7p without too much effort. Still 600 cals on M and Th but on those days, I'm done earlier; last night at 5:30! The day after the fast makes for a hungry morning but I'm getting into it. Couple hours here and there of primal, existential, hand to hand combat with hunger but that's where I gain confidence from the win. #givehungertheheisman

I always eat between 12 or 1 afternoon and 8pm or 9pm becuase it fits my work schedule, I do the Bulletproof coffee in the morning and then eat around 12:00pm, dinner is around 7:30pm and protein shake around 9:00pm.

have your eating time end about 4 hours from when you want to go to sleep.

One more question, when you look at the chart at the bottom of your food diary and it shows the percentage of intake, are you supposed to go by that or by the number of grams you eat of each every day?

I do 6pm to 10am. then eat from 10am and stop at 6pm. any 16hours you want to do is fine. Just fast for 16hours then you have 8 hours to eat your 2 meals.

I was thinking like blkbear, mostly it's about the digestion and if you feel full and have to lay down and go to sleep. I know you've mentioned sometimes you're not hungry, would it help to split your food up more in your feeding window? So that you are having a light meal later and not feeling so full right before sleep?

Mom, My suggestion is thus. And you know where I stand also so you know I wont BS you. Eat when you wake up. Then eat again before 8 hours have passed. Then don't eat again till breakfast the next day. Its exactly what I do. And it works. Remember, hunger is mental. YOU control what goes in your body and when.
