Bird Fancier's Journal, 25 March 2016

I bought a 2 lb bag of curly kale and spent the morning making kale chips. They are so good...everyone kept eating them faster than I could cook them! But, I did end up with 4 containers. I hope they keep, I put dry rice in each tupperware to keep them crispy. I'll let you know if the rice worked. I saved the stems and cooked them the southern way...bacon/applecider vinegar/red pepper flakes. So, I 'm set this week for my dark green leafy food!

Tonight is beauty night! I'm gonna trim/dye my hair, enjoy a face mask, and do all my nails, and soak in the tub...candles...low lights...peace and quiet!

The kale chips sound amazing! I've always wanted to make those but I never make the effort.

Change of plans last night! Beauty night was put on hold until SAT. Instead, we had a great family night (since everyone has to work on Easter.) My son, an excellent sushi chef, made an amazing boat for us...all the favorites...everything was fresh and healthy...except the sticky rice can really bump up those carbs! The key is to make the decision to eat the forbidden for that meal only, then enjoy it. Get right back on the LCHF wagon the next meal. Sushi is an art made with love and soul...the evening made nice memories.

UPDATE: The rice trick did not work in keeping the Kale Chips crispy. However, a 5 minute reheat in the oven did the trick! Boo hoo...they are all gone now!

Pamper yourself - you're worth it and it takes your mind off the food.
