Congrats, one of my friends was living with a young, lady writer, who Aaron Spelling liked, and she got a big series to write for, and dumped my friend. lol

Thanks, everybody! You guys are awesome. The book is called DEVIL'S POCKET. It's the sequel to my 2014 debut, PHOENIX ISLAND, which actually won the Bram Stoker Award last year. That was shocking and awesome. As a lifelong horror fan, I'd always dreamed of that moment, but I was so certain that I'd lose -- I was up against four great writers, including two New York Times bestsellers -- that I hadn't even prepared a speech. Ha ha.

Actually, ABC Studios optioned the book (not for billions, unfortunately), and the first book in the series, PHOENIX ISLAND, was the basis for a CBS TV series, INTELLIGENCE, that aired for one season in 2014. It starred Josh Holloway from LOST, Marg Helgenberger, and Megan Ory... and had nothing to do with my book. Ha ha. Truth, though. We went from a close retelling to something completely different. It was a blast. I grew up in the country, with a black and white TV and three fuzzy stations, so it was a bit surreal, too.  

Thanks, Suzytrws. Yeah, it's a long process. They just announced the final ballot, so it's down to six of us. I don't expect to win, but it was an absolute honor just being nominated, and I'm looking forward to seeing friends and visiting Vegas for the first time.
