wholefoodnut's Journal, 22 November 2015

Hope everyone is having a terrific weekend and a good holiday week ahead. Mindful eating on this huge food holiday. I've been reading lots of posts trying to catch up over my coffee (regular not bulletproof) this am.

Back to using the TRX videos and hopefully to the gym on Friday since we have a 1/2 day @ work. Not sure about squeezing ice skating in this week as after work time will be scarce.

I'm anxious to get my kitchen back so I can cook again and not in a mess. Luckily Thanksgiving dinner will be @ a DD's and I will take some sides and rolls.

My weekend is continued work on my kitchen after bug bombing it 2 weekends in a row for little black bugs of some sort. Have also discovered signs of mice in my corner cupboard and pantry, so mouse traps went out yesterday, they try to move in every fall. Hope to have my kitchen back together by the end of the day. I simply have too much kitchen stuff. I'm trying to sort some of it out that I don't need. I'll still have the hutch with lots of antique glass to do but that isn't essential for daily use.

It's a good thing people don't grow like puppies!!! In 3 weeks Pepper pup has almost doubled in size and weight. She went from 13 pounds to 23. Not fat solid puppy muscle. She was at the vets for the last round of puppy shots on Friday.

Don't forget, enjoy your friends and family this Thanksgiving but watch your portions.

Are they flying bugs or crawling bugs? I

If they are flying bugs, set out a glass of red wine with some plastic wrap over the top and a couple of holes in it so they can get in but not get out.

traccie, we use the same technique for gnats putting cider vinegar and honey in a jar and cover it with the plastic with holes.

The teeny black bugs that get into flour ... hmmm, what are they called? I think the only way to deal with them is keep all flours in the fridge or freezer. I would get those when I had the farmhouse. Nothing was safe in my pantry there. For the gnats ... I use that same method and red wine vinegar. LOL!

Living in a construction zone is never easy, happy to hear its coming to an end. Enjoy your week.

I hope you are enjoying your weekend as well. You'll have to take a new pic of Pepper. Perhaps one with Gabby and Jazzy in it.

A few minutes break as the dishwasher is started and sanitizer sprayed in a cabinet and letting it sit a few minutes to work, some empty drawers are next. They be nasty little crawly things not really sure what they are. We used to call them grease bugs when I lived in the country. Not the ones that get in flour. Many less and most are dead ones that I'm finding. Moving the stove today cleaning under it and spraying the area with residual spray and probably the frig. Steam cleaning every crack, crevice and junction in the cabinets and the stove in case any are hiding or eggs. Also setting more mouse traps, I bought a bunch of them last year and have a supply. I'd rather be working on my re-model or Christmas decorations. Oh well, needs doing. My kitchen will be really clean..;))

I've had my experiences with nasty little "unidentified" bugs, & mice too, but would give my eyeteeth for a newly remodeled kitchen, LOL! ENJOY! ~ ((HUGS)) GLAMMER

Glammer, my kitchen is slowly getting there in stages. Not a total re-do like Perath's . Cabinets stay, they are good but will eventually e re-finished, hardware replaced, and the counters replaced with stone of some sort. Flooring replaced sometime in the future and the appliances replaced one at a time with stainless instead of the mismatched off whites that came with the house as budget allows. Slowly slowly. HCB, HI!!

That sounds great though, WFN. When selling our last 2 homes I've left behind nearly new appliances that I would dearly love to have now, & I'm afraid my kitchen is beyond hope. It's designed badly, & it's in a 1971 "vintage" mobile home, so any major repairs are more likely to make it fall down rather than actually improve anything, LOL! So I envy anyone with an up-to-date kitchen. But I'm very happy & thankful for the gorgeous property we have, & many other blessings, & am truly happy for both you & Pterath in your home improvements, & wish you all the best in your new & better kitchens. I'll get my new kitchen within the next few years, when we sell our home & move to the city to live with our DDs & SIL. Then we'll be on "Easy Street", LOL!

Sorry Glammer that you don't have a good kitchen. I didn't for many years but when I bought this house a huge selling factor was a nice kitchen. I have updates I've chosen to do to make it fit me better. Yay! have gotten 3 mice so need to re-set some traps and one that is sprung the peanut better gone but no mouse.
