RubyRedSox's Journal, 13 April 2011

Wow, glad to be home from my overnight sleep test. It'll be weeks before I get all the glue out of my hair though!

I had left Solace (my new 6 mos old chihuahua) with a local boarding shop. When I picked up Solace I asked the lady how she did i.e; if she barked a lot. The lady said she took her home to sleep in her bed so she wouldn't cry, lol. Poor little pup is glad to be home and napping now.

I won't know the results of my test until I go back in but I may be getting a CPAP to help me fight my unrefreshing sleep and health in general.

Hope everyone is doing good!

Sure hope that they are able to help you get some decent sleep...that alone will make you feel so much better! I know that if I have a stopped up nose and have to mouth breathe, I wake up all night long and when I get up in the morning, I feel awful. I can't even begin to imagine what sleep apnea must do! HUGS!!

I hope they can figure out your sleeping issues, it really sucks when you wake up feeling as tired as you did when you went to bed.

Oh wow, I had no idea you had to do all this. Guess I really need to stay plugged in. Well I hope the CPAP helps. I have heard it's like night and day and you'll be quite thankful. Take care hon.

Ruby you won't regret getting that machine. Husband has had one for years. We both sleep better now. He would quit breathing and I would have to shake him so he would take a breath..Do glad Solace is back home with you. Have a great reunited evening......Bren

@Stef, yeah.. real sleep. what a concept. I've had times I actually woke up and thought," WOW!! Is this what it feels like to wake up rested??" The rest of the time I wake up feeling crappy. I remember back in grade school, my mom had a devil of a time getting me up in the mornings and I loved school!

Yeah Pixi, it does suck and also contributes to a myriad of health issues. I know I could deal with the rest of my health challenges if I could just be more alert. I literally walk around like a zombie. Incidently, zombies are cool <wink>

LOL as long as you are not trying to eat my brains we are good! I actually love Zombies, but I do love my brain as well so I am afraid I would have to kill the zombie that tried to eat it.

@Keli, no worries. The internet is a REALLY BIG place. Heck, I can't even keep up with even my stuff and find myself constanting falling behind in what's going on. It's life, lol. Hope you're doing well!!

@Nelson - OH YEAH! The "baby" has forgiven me (I think the liver helped)lol. I'm just glad to get that part out of the way so I can go from here. I can only eat the elephant one bite at a time:)

@Bren, I'm sure you're right. Just wearing the cpap for a few minutes I could tell a real difference. I'm actually anxious to get on with it! May you have a great evening:)

I can't begin to tell you what being able to breath at night is like. I've had my Bi-pap for about four years now and I can't lay down without it. When I think that I used to sleep that way, it's scary!

Catching up here since our discussion on lemons...the Great Grandmother I was talking about lived to be 97 lol...something about lemons for sure! My husband needs to do an analysis in my opinon because he has a horrible tiem sleeping...I will hear...silence for a long amount of time...then with a blast, a gasp of air, and a huge snore...he tosses and turns, it worries me. Thanks for sharing about your adventures in getting help in this area as it is information I need to share with my Brian. Brian is about 20 pounds overweight but had lung troubles as an infant. I think there is something apnea in his sleep but getting him convinced to see a doctor about anything is like finding a needle in a haystack. TOWANDA!!!!!!

I have sleep apnea too but I stopped wearing my mask and now it is years outdated. No good reason to stop as I felt much more refreshed using it. Your puppy sounds so cute. My best friend wants a Chihuahua. How is your puppy. Was he easy to potty train? Have you done obedience work with him? My friend wants to know how easy they are to train.

Lisa, the sleep test was easy. They just attach wires to your legs but most are on your head. You just go to sleep then go home and wait for the results. Sorry about getting your Brian o go to the doctor. Refreshing sleep affects so many health issues. Good luck!

Andrea, I'd get a new sleep mask right away. Getting restful sleep affects SO much of our lives, from health to the ability to accomplish what we set for ourselves. It's just too important!
