Looking for some advice maybe? I'm 5ft 1in, weigh 201lbs. I am on a diet plan in which I eat 5-6 times per day, healthy choices instead of processed foods, etc. I exercise once a day doing Figure 8 Fitness. How many calories (approximately) should I be taking in? The app puts me at 2200, but that's waaay more than I tend to consume. Thanks all!

Welcome, the best advise I can give is to in the beginning weigh and measure everything you eat, be honest. It’s very easy to under estimate our calorie intake snd over estimate how much we burn. Personally I never eat calories I burn. Good luck.

That does seem like more calories than you need for your height. Try a few other online calorie calculators to see what they suggest. It’s great you’re eliminating processed food. Best wishes in your endeavors.

There are several online calculators that do a better job than FS which is usually very high. Mayo Clinic has a good one, calculator.net is ok, and keto calculators do a decent job too. A lot depends on your life style and budget. Vegans might not care for keto, etc.

you'll need to figure out what works for you. I'm 5'5" and I start gaining at 1,600 calories/day. Fat Secret says my RDI is 2,400. Mayo Clinic says 1,900. To lose 8 pound a month since April, I've averaged 1,200 calories a day. The hardest was to cut out processed carbs.

Welcome. Depending on your age and activity levels will also factor how many calories daily. If you consume lots of sodium, which can cause fluid retention. Read as much about nutrition as you can. There are many low calorie substitutes for high calorie foods. A great site is Eat This Not That. I personally try to stay within 1200 to 1400 calories daily.

I am 5 ft. According to my keto macros, I should eat 8/69/23, or about 1206 calories to lose weight. According to LoBag20 which is supposed to be optimum for diabetics, my macros should be 20/50/30. Reality: I need to eat under 1300 calories to lose weight. So yes, you need to use an online calculator to see what works best for you. Every body is different! Best wishes!

I'm 5'2" and that seems a little high (but I am sedentary so hard to compare). I like Kattay's suggestion to check out a few other calculators to get a feel for it. My suggestion beyond that is to give whatever you choose two or three weeks, and if you are not losing, to drop it 200 cals. and give the new level a few weeks. At some point you will get to a point where you have a consistent downward trend.
