redgirl1974's Journal, 08 August 2019

I survived day one of low carb and I didnt die.. I was really bi!chy towards the end of the day but got over it. I fought off the desire to eat a nutty bar and opted for a crappy low carb bar.. I hate them but right now they are a lot safer to have then to not have. I took a huge step and told EVERYONE I was back on LC and even posted it on FB bc I feel like in some way that makes me more accountable. Im very prepared today food wise. Brought enough food to work and left me lunch ready (i go home to eat). ANNNNDDDD I made plans with my brother to start meeting at the gym Monday. I can go sooner bc my son just moved out and Im spending my morning putting my house back together since we are turning his room into a media room.

GOALS FOR TODAY:
1. Log everything honesty
2. Stay on track - under 30-40 net carbs
3. Drink enough water
4. Don't act mental or overthink things... bc that leads to stress eating

Goals for the next 7 days
1. Get back down to 20 net carbs- and stay there.
2. Start meal prepping - can you say BACON!!
3. Drink more water
4. Dont drive my family crazy while I detox or give in to cravings.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day ! Thank you for your support.

You didn't survive day one, you conquered! And it gets easier, and you have a plan, and I love that you already have a new purpose for the kid's room ... don't give them an option to move back in lol ☺️

I literally burst out laughing into the first sentence. You and I must be genetically linked somewhere along the line. I have never had a sweet tooth, but always say I'll knock someone down for their french fries. As a kid, I lived in the Philippines for a few years and we had rice at least twice a day. It has become a habit I love and have growled in my head a number of evenings for having to eat fish or chicken or lean turkey meatballs without my rice. Between the sacrifice of starchy carbs and wine, I just can't stop myself from thinking about how much I want them. I know based on a history of peanut butter addiction that if I can get thru the first long while without, the cravings really do dissipate. Of course, until then I'm pissed, but I'll recover. I'm cheering you on from my grumpy kitchen!

LindaSee— both rice and potatoes if cooked and cooled become resistant starches and digest much more slowly and don’t cause the blood sugar spikes as much. They also retain their resistant status even when reheated. Think leftover Chinese rice, potato salad. Read up on resistant starches and see if you might be able to include a small amount of your rice as part of your WOE.

It will always be a struggle, I've yo-yo'd some over the last three years, but have managed to catch myself pretty quick before I go completely bonkers. I can totally relate, just saying to heck with it for a few months. When the jeans start getting tight, though, I know it's time to reel it in!

AGREED.. Phil.. I went crazy bc I was in a new relationship with someone who just moved here so he wanted to try all these new places and I gave in and said f it.. not im 50 lbs heavier again.. Time to get back to work!

Food is a big driver with my wife, I would rather get something low-carb quick, she wants to make a production with everything starchy and high sugar. It's tough, but you're right, time to get back to work!

Lots of good info on LC lifestyle out there. I dropped 50 lbs in 12 weeks on LC. Drink lots of water and take a good MV. Once you get to ketosis, you won't feel hungry. It might take a few days but you won't regret it.

Welcome back, Redgirl1974! Great plan! I don't do those awful "low-carb" bars because I don't like them, and because they often misrepresent "net carbs" on the front of the label by discounting the "net effect" of artificial sweeteners. I include raspberries with unsweetened whipped cream every few days as a dessert. This month, I'm averaging 54g total carbs per day, which is "lower" but not low enough to get into ketosis. Darcy67's right, but I've found that, even with the higher carb count, I don't have hunger pangs while doing intermittent fasting 16 hours a day. Good luck and best wishes on your renewed journey toward better health!
