I'm a 56-year-old programmer type whose job means sitting on a chair for hours on-end coding. I love my job, it's like solving logic puzzles all day long, but it's not very good for my physical fitness. At various times in my life, I've done martial arts, fencing, Zumba, Curves, weight lifting, and regular walking - right now, I'm not doing much. But...I'm working on my food intake, and plan to get back to a regular fitness routine by returning to Curves and re-establishing my once a week appointment with the physical trainer at the Gold's gym, plus treadmill. Sounds ambitious, but I can do it! Starting is the hardest part.

101 pounds gone- alot more to go!
Holy cats! It's like watching a butterfly emerge from a cocoon! What amazing progress and it's all downhill! LOL -- Seriously, what a fabulous inspiration - and you are my second one today. Someone is busy keeping on track, I think...thank you, KingCole! Smile (oh, and Someone, too!)

not all exercises in the list
And, I just realized that you can add "Other" and then put your own description and calories, etc. So that's good - I go to Curves and I've been faking it with the "circuit training entry (putting 60 minutes instead of the 30 it takes me to get the same calorie burn). I'm going to try the "Other" entry next time I go...or if I do someting else not on the list.

ZUMBA
I just got the dvd. The 21 or so dance moves you're supposed to learn in the "basics" are pretty intimidating, especially for a klutz such as myself! But, I'm looking for a class - I think I'll do better in a group, and I'm willing to try, since I love to dance. Were you able to learn/keep up?

I NEED SOME ADVICE
Nicole, I would say that all this advice looks dead on - especially about eating more and better foods. I commend you for starting to exercise, because that's another key factor - not only in the weight loss, but just to feel better. Plus, the more muscle you create, the more calories you'll burn even when you're resting - talk about the gift that keeps on giving! Smile Good job, and kudos for reaching out for help.
