27 August 2008

So Ive always been overweight. Here and there dropping a few pounds but for the most part since I was 15 (23 now) I was always around 185. But then I moved to England and it just kept packing on. Until by the time I moved from there July 14th 2008 I was at 220. And not happy with myself.

Ive since lost 10 pounds being back in the states but thats just the beginning. My husband and I are apart until November 2009. (Military)And while yes he loves me just the way I am. I dont. Ive begun to see my health be affected and at my young age its scary. Ive set a goal to lose 80 pounds we are apart and he is in full support of whatever makes me happy and healthy. Hes even changed his eating ways, while he may have to be fit, hes on the up end of that scale and he wants to makes changed too which will be nice to be on the same page when we get to our next home together.

I get to visit him in the month of March. So about 6 to 6 1/2 months. My goal is to be half way through my goal. 40 pounds lighter. Def not going to be easy considering the holidays are just around the corners and I come from a HUGE Mexican-Peruvian family which means lots of parties and LOTS of food. haha. But I know I can do this.

Not following a certain diet because it will just make me want to stray. Funny thing is I really really enjoy what people call "health" food I always have. But then I also enjoy steak, mashed potatoes and anything with tons of cheese. The lifestyles changes Im making is watching my portion control. Which is hard for me. I LOVE it cook and Im great at, it I do say so myself. haha. So more balanced, lighter meals, and watching my portions. I dont intend on depriving myself of anything. Just everything in moderation because if I try to say "No I cant eat that", it will just make me depressed so instead it will be I can have a lil and a nice salad on the side haha.

As far as working out goes. For the past two weeks Ive been walking my dog for 1 hour an evening 6 days a week. )we play fetch in the backyard for the 7th day) Before I would only walk him 15 mins a day. So now I DO not let myself return to the house for anything less than an hour to do this I walk really far so I HAVE to walk all the way back haha. In addition I have begun to do a workout video 3 mornings a week, adding in push-ups and crunches. Im thinking about bumping that up to 4 days a week but once my muscles are used to it because Im rather sore today! But I know once I get stronger I will be able to do it more. Maybe come a month or so I can even do it 5 days a week. We'll see.

So this is me and these are my goals. Im ready.
