Not eating enough
his metabolism thing is a myth made up of two issues:

1. if you eat low fat your body stores its sugar (because that's poisonous in the blood) and you're left with no energy;
2. somehow metabolism doesn't mean 'required energy to continue breathing, blood pumping, etc'

so no 1 is true, and no. 2 is false.

Your metabolism declines if you reduce your blood pumping, brain thinking requirements. it is what you require to not die, in a coma, in the hospital. It doesn't change based on diet, it changes based upon your size and shape and metabolic needs.

Your body is already efficient. It already pumps blood efficiently. Your liver already cleans blood efficiently, and so do your kidneys. they don't get better at it, just because you are on a calorie controlled diet. They're already very good at it.

just change your macros to fat and not carb/sugar, and you won't have the same exhaustion.

Low Carb High Protein
The con would be that any protein your body can't use, it converts to carbohydrate. so for a diabetic, low carb/high protein is basically high carb.

Low carb, high fat, is keto. Ketogenic diets were invented maybe 150 yrs ago, to combat obesity, and have been used since then to stop epileptic seizures in children, and to aid with diabetics who can metabolise fat no trouble, but have difficulty metabolising carbohydrate due to either lack of insulin (type 1 diabetes) or resistence to insulin (type 2 diabetes.)

I'm a type 2 so attempt, I say attempt because I find it hard, to be high fat low carb. I find if i keep my carbs very low I don't experience hunger, energy loss, any of that. Also - insulin triggers ghrelin, which triggers cravings. So avoiding insulin spikes helps me avoid the hangries.

The other thing I do is have a low carb/high fat stash in the bar. My bar is decked out with sugar free fizzy drinks and sugar free treats. when the bar is shut I forget I have anything there - when I start missing the yummy things I can go grab a few sugar free jelly babies and not feel deprived.

I'm not losing a pound a day tho. Maybe 100g. sometimes I go up. because I'm not dieting with 'weight loss' focus, I'm dieting right now with blood glucose focus. anyway best of british for whatever you choose do to. I like the treat drawer thing filled only with treats you can have by the way - because it's somewhere to go when you need a fix and you don't blow your diet.

Weight loss
Yes. Smile Your first week, depending on your diet, you can lose a lot of glycogen, which is glucose stored in the liver. it binds with 3 x its own weight in sugar. So you lose 1lb glycogen, you lose 4lb on the scales. This first flush ends, and then the diet you are on will cause you to lose as much weight as is in your calorie deficit.

I can't see what you've been eating (can't see your diary) so don't know what kind of diet you're on. Another way to lose a heckton of water is to reduce inflammation, so if you are eating less inflammatory foods you will pee out some inflammation and lose weight that way.

But your 1lb is probably a truer reflection of actual fat loss - and it's an impressive fat loss for 1 week so don't knock it. Smile

Ketogenic Diet Plan
guys! guys! Ketogenic is inert for insulin. it involves the burning of ketones not carbohydrates! Any more protein than your body can process to repair cells in a day is xfered into carbohydrates as your body cannot store protein. Add to it that you can repurpose protein that you already have (autophagy) keto is not about high protein!

My macros are
fat: 75%
Protein 20%
carbs 5%

Total calories a day as per this site's calculations 1600 cals a day.

Breakfast: keto coffee.
Lunch: A kebab, a bento box of meat, cheese and greens, a sausage... a keto brownie. Whatever I like.

Dinner: a wrap made with a keto wrap, meat with all the fat on it I can do, satay sauce, much cheese, cabbage, tomato. pressed in sandwhich press till crispy on outside.

Treats: super dark chocolate, flavoured waters, cheese, olives, cucumber...

I eat when I want to... I might have dinner at 4pm. I do what I want timing wise, i just stay under 20g net carbs and there is NO point having a 'non keto' day because it destroys about 2 weeks' effort as you kick right out of ketosis for a number of days.

set goal
OOh I lie!

You can!

When you tell it to calculate your daily totals, the box comes up telling you how many calories you need... and you can then type in that box whatever you want. So it can be done.
