Spouse Not Supportive
Just have to add my 2 cents as well. Don't be afraid to keep coming here for support. The people on FS are awesomely supportive and tough as nails, especially if they have stuck around for a while. We all have hard times (emotional upsets, non-support from family & friends, diet "failures" from vacations & parties, medical problems, etc.), and even if you don't get a concrete solution to your immediate problems, we all pull for one another here.

I didn't even know I could lose weight durably until I came here--I won't eat manufactured diet foods, do insanity workouts, swear off all junk food or even refrain from eating after 10PM. But I really believe now that there are good diet/lifestyle solutions for everyone, if you are honest about what your goals are, and what you are really willing to do to achieve them. Then you need to be committed to getting up every day (or almost) and sticking to your plan, for as long as it takes, and then maintaining in some reasonable way. I thought I knew a good bit about nutrition before signing on here, but I found there was a whole lot more to learn (just HOW many calories are in my favorite breakfast muffin?!?!), and it is now easier to make wise choices about food, even when I am not recording every blessed thing I eat (though that is still the best way to achieve results, I find).

What everyone said about planning meals is absolutely valid, but think about snacks, too. Fresh fruit and vegetables are more expensive in both time and money, but almost everything else is too loaded with fat and carbs for very little nutrition. Find some things that you really like that are very low in calories (I use radishes, pickles, grape tomatoes), and keep them ready to go whenever you need something. I get "stupid" when I am really hungry, and that is when I am most vulnerable to bad food decisions. A glass of water and a handful of grape tomatoes later, I am much better equipped to make a good choice.

Oh, one last thing: I can really recommend frozen supermarket pizza if you get to really miss it. Choose a thinner-crust-and-more-veggies kind for yourself, and your husband can still have deep-dish meat-lover's or whatever. Maybe you can even steal a slice of his, since the packaging will tell you how many calories it is packing, which is hard to know with takeout pizza.

Sorry, that was too long, but I wish you all the best.

Sex and Weight - Will I Feel Sexier When I Lose the Weight?
I think I know where you're coming from. By the time I got to 195 lbs., I could hardly stand the sight of myself in the bathroom mirror, clothes on or off. Miraculously, my husband was still attracted to me, but I was so repulsed by myself that, if anything, I began to question his integrity or his eyesight. Some 60 lbs. lighter, I am much more comfortable with how I look and feel, and clothes shopping is an enjoyable experience for me--definitely a welcome change! Best of luck; slow and steady wins.

argh, spam!!!
Thanks for the tips. I don't necessarily expect quick action or anything, but if no one reports spam, the mods won't even know about it.

argh, spam!!!
I just received a spam message (disinherited Nigerian prince-type message), and wish to report the perpetrator, but don't see how to contact a moderator here. Can anyone help? The spam messages you foil may be your own....

I just started and I gained 2 pounds...
Don't panic! If you are doing what you need to do (i.e. staying within the calorie count calculated to make you lose weight, staying active), the weight will come off. Water is a funny thing, and goes up and down, and unless your, er, waste elimination is on a very precise schedule, that makes a big difference, too.

The only thing I would worry about with the gain is that you have been doing a very good job calculating your intake. For example, did you check how many calories are in that sauce/dressing? But if that is all on target, probably there is no cause for concern.

Also, it seems to me that the effect of what I eat (or refrain from eating) and my exercise is delayed by a couple of days. If I "fall off the wagon" for a day or two, the scale does not always reflect it immediately (and similarly when I have been extra good), but all those things show up in the end.

Keep the faith, and don't give up, whatever you do. You can totally do this. The mental game is usually more grueling than the physical.
