Happy Tuesday. Got my last medium-length run in yesterday and now just need to do 2 or 3 miles a couple days this week. The run is Sunday and then I will hit the diet hard again.
My mom, daughter, granddaughter and I went to local safari park yesterday. It has been here for several years but it was my first visit. Mom walked all over that place, up hills and on rough trails. She lost weight a year ago and went from barely walking to being Awesomely healthy. She is a great example of someone who changed their live through healthy eating. My husband is another. He, too, lost weight last year. He lost about 30 pounds and was able to quit taking his blood pressure and cholesteral medicines.
139.8 lb Lost so far: 4.2 lb.    Still to go: 9.8 lb.    Diet followed 100%.
losing 1.8 lb a week

In my 40s my times were always right at 2:30 so I'd be happy with anything around 2 hours and 45 minutes. (I have never been fast...) Complication is I am doing this with a daughter recovering from a knee injury who did not have time to train. Depends on whether she runs or walks or wants me to stay with her. If she wants me to hang with her and our times are not good, I want to sign up for another as soon as possible! Thanksfor thewell wishes!!!

That is cool that you two are going together I never could talk my kids into anything like that. 2:30 and 2:45 are very respectable times, when I ran I was like that old car that could drive anywhere forever just not quickly, Have you ever thought about doing the Boulder Boulder

Boulder Boulder. Always heard it was "the" race to do. Except it is so large that it would be overwhelming, I think. I've done a few big races, such as Marine Corps Marathon... and I truly prefer the smaller ones! Is it a race you'd recommend?

Do you carb load for a few days before a race? Like eating bunches of bananas? I know zero about distance running and the pre-race prep.

Boulder Boulder is just a fun race same with the Pikes Peak Assention if you are really trying to win you need to break from the crowd if not some places get a little congested, I have done the Army ten miler that was always fun but like I said I am one of the in the crowd guys, best 10K I did was the Asia to Europe 10K it is in Instabul all of a matter of crossing a bridge to get from Asia to Europe but fun

Eddie1261, thanks for the great question! Yes, I carb load before half marathons. (As I also did before my two full marathons.) Spaghetti and bagels on Friday, so that my system will have time to store the energy as well as to flush the junk before race time. Rockiesfan, kudos on your 10 milers and your 10Ks. The location of your events sounds so much more exciting than mine! My youngest daughter and I have done the Pikes Peak descent... but I'd love to run the Assention. Or the Grand Canyon half. But I have a lot more training to do before I could consider those! But maybe with all the community support on this site, I'll "get 'ur dun".
