Trying so hard to understand how this diet works.I lost 4 pounds and then the next day gained it back again even tho I was eating right.I know I am losing inches because I am able to wear jeans I could never get into,so I am not going to worry about some water wt.

I think you have the right attitude by looking at inches instead of just the number on The Idiot Box as HCB calls it. You most likely aren't losing 4 pounds of fat in a day just like you aren't gaining it in a day. Long as it is trending downward you are doing great!

I never worried about the scale, to much as I never lost weight for over 2 months, stayed even keel, but did notice clothes being bigger, try measurements, eventually it showed on scale...Good Luck

I agree scales lie threw mine away a long time ago! Body fluctuates several times a day probably fluid retention Sweetie!

That is just water retention. Stay with it and the weight will go away for good!

Weigh yourself first thing in the morning, before you sip coffee or water. Same time, once a week. Read up on “The Whoosh Effect” to understand the need for water.....

Sandy, I think several things are at work here, but probably water retention is the culprit. Our bodies will store water to glucose in a 3:1 ratio. Glucose is manufactured from carbohydrate and fat intake. Sometimes you may have done a great job on limiting the carbs, only to be stung by the amount of fat you have taken in a particular day. I know from my up and downs of the Atkin's diet, this experience is very common. Like others have said though, don't be discouraged and quit your diet. You will have other temporary setbacks from time to time, because the body will also slow down the glucose burn rate when it senses you are "starving" it. But note the operative word "temporary".

Your jeans are a good indicator you are doing somethings right. Don't get discouraged. Hang in there...
