Lindsical's Journal, 20 January 2018

So I've never posted a full body pic because I was embarrassed about myself. It's normal. But the pic on the left was done 02/06/2017... Pic on the right was a week before surgery. That's 60 pounds lost, it's kind of amazing how different I look. That orange shirt, I can't wear it anymore. It looks like a tent on me.

I am allergic to milk protein. UGH. Today to get my fluids/proteins in I decided to try Fairlife... Milk is disgusting but the only way I'm gonna get my #s in with soymilk is adding unflavored protein powder to it.

I'm banging my head against a wall because WTF did I do to myself? I know that this is a psychological thing. I need to work on it but this is hard.

And btw, as you lose and reshape, get rid of the clothes, like the orange shirt unless you want ONE thing to try on now and again as proof of how well you are doing!

And YES, it is very hard.

I love unsweetened vanilla almond milk. Nice to use instead of water in chai teas.

It's not what you did...It's the lies that you believed. That we all believed. You look great!!!

60 lbs is a fantastic accomplishment! Congratulations! For alternative protein sources check out Julian Bakery online. My sons are both lactose intolerant and they each found good alternatives there. One uses egg protein and the other uses a plant based protein powder. You can also google paleo protein shakes and find a lot of nondairy options.

Trader Joe's sells an egg protein powder. Since you are only a week out, don't worry too much about numbers just yet. (Seriously. Until you are actually eating 3 ounces of solids). I am a gastric sleeve veteran, too. HW: 340 Surg. Date: 5-4-15 Surg Wt: 296 Current Weight: 177 Size 12 pant, Shirts: Med/Lrg If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. :) We want you to succeed not just in the short term, but the long term!

I had gastric bypass surgery in 2005. It works. I admit I lost 90+ lbs and over 12 yrs found myself through no fault of the surgery back to 224 in 2/2017. I cut out Pepsi, bread, butter, and pastries. Started eating 80-85 gems of protein a day on 1250 calories. You’ve got lots of post-op support plus F.S. so I hope you do really great. I never enlarged my stomach by over eating. I just ate the wrong food in small portions frequently. Or I’m a real idiot. Right! An I’m even an Operating Room nurse so I know all the in’s and out’s of the surgery but eating is 99% emotion and 1% mechanics of lifting your hand, chewing and swallowing. I always said they fixed my stomach but not my head. Getting over 200 lbs made me realize I was throwing away the greatest gift I’d ever been given. You’ll see very soon what a blessing this surgery is to your quality of life. I’m at 165 again through my efforts since February 2017. I reached 165 by Thanksgiving. 160 is my goal and at 64 years old my Dr. is very pleased and my lab work is great. Good luck and I’ll follow your posts.

You should talk to your nutrition support team about your protein intake. It essential for healthy weight loss.
