I went out and bought myself a proper pair of running shoes on Friday. Went and had a gait analysis done, and got fitted with the right pair of trainers for my feet and running style (my left foot is perfectly neutral but my right foot leans in a little when running). I had been running in a pair of trainers that were just totally unsuitable and even after 1 week my feet were feeling it.

I decided I really did need to get a good pair of running shoes as running is something I really want to make a part of my life, not just for as long as I'm losing weight, but forever. I'm not just exercising to help lose weight, I want to be fit and healthy. I want to have loads of energy and stamina and not get tired and out of breath from simple exercise.

My goal is to run both a 5k and an Urbanathlon next year. I've got a long way to go, but even after just a week I've noticed a difference.
