Miraculum's Journal, 04 June 2019

I came across a can of garbanzo beans while reorganizing my pantry today. I could easily have downed the entire a 16-oz. can (522 calories, 87g carbohydrate) in a wonderful salad dressing.

However, I'd promised my husband that, if he got me the super-duper Black-and-Decker toasting/baking/broiling/air-frying "Big Girl EZ-Bake Oven" for my birthday, I'd make room for it. So, instead of eating the can of beans, I returned to my reorganizing. I even cleared some things I never use from my "kitchen extension" in the garage -- a 72"x30"x24" ventilated shelving "tower"! I loaded my trunk and took the extra junk to Goodwill.

The beans are still sitting there, and I'm 21 hours into today's fast!

Note to self: Another NSV, June 4, 2019!

P.S. - My birthday is in November.

As a poor kid when I was young, it is so hard to throw away food. So what I do these days is let it sit in the damned pantry until the expiration date. Then I HAVE to toss it out!

Read up on garbonzo beans. An unbelievably nutritious food. Scientists type people, like food archaeologist, are combing every small isolated village in the world trying to find original garbonzo seeds.

When I hear "garbanzo beans" I think "hummus."

Those beans are good. Just don’t eat the entire can today. Wash them to remove some salt they are packed in. Prepare you a salad and add these as a topping (no more that 1/3 of can). Save others. The fiber in the beans lower that carb number and = a net carb. You need that. It works to increase your metabolism.

I must be in the minority but I hate those beans! Its not as much the taste as it is the texture. Ugh..gross!

In any case they are not keto friendly - you did right to resist.

Another good way to eat them is to roast them till crispy and add them to salads. The bomb.

I hope you love your air frier. I love mine. it is an easy way to cook for 1 when I am here alone.

Doing LCHF, the air dryer isn't "necessary," but I thought it'd be good for crisping things up, and for my husband. He likes to "South Beach," about which I know nothing. It's very helpful to have him for support, though. He knows "the struggle" intimately.
