Well, I ate half the chocolate chip cookies that I baked for Christmas, and grazed on every snack in site, didn't drink much water, (except Pellegrino), had lots of wine and champagne, and basically enjoyed myself. So here I am again back up to 160 plus. :( anyway, I'm back in the saddle and all I can think about is food all day long).Someone brought me a peanut butter chocolate truffle, and I simply said "thanks!" and ate it in one bite without thinking.

So now, trying to stick to very reasonable portions, cut the carbs and all the cheese, and doing reasonably well..so I think. Does anyone know why dairy is a no-no? I love my non fat plain greek yogurt in the morning for breakfast.

If dairy is laden with carbs, too much will throw you out of ketosis.

Dairy isn’t a no-no in keto. I use a 1/4 cup of whole milk greek plain yogurt in my protein smoothies for the added fat and protein. I also eat cheese. 🤷🏻‍♀️I just also closely monitor carb consumption. 💁🏻‍♀️I now, 20 lbs from goal eat more carbs than I did when I was 145 lbs from goal. I also had rest breaks where I stabilized my weight for a month or two at a time by eating more carbs and exercising and just working to maintain that weight within the last two and a half years. 🙋🏻

Spaceblatt - if you're trying keto, check out dietdoctor.com. It's the best site for all the information on what to eat/drink and what not to. I don't do keto or low carb myself but happy to support anyone whatever their diets.

I'm not doing Keto or low carb but my doctor has advised me to avoid dairy and processed foods. I asked why I couldn't have a glass of skim milk a day and he said to have almond milk instead, real milk has hormones.

8Patty: it is considered dairy? I've committed to no dairy at least through June. No milk, no cheese, butter, yogurt. Having a hard time right now, I've committed to giving up quite a bit both for inflammation and cholesterol. Night shades, that you told me about means no tomatoes or potatoes, mushrooms, peppers. I've also given up beef and without tomatoes can't even make a meatless chili. Ate oatmeal this morning for the first time as an adult. Put in some nuts and a tablespoon of honey. Now I remember why I didn't like it as a kid!
