Yes, sometimes it is. I have gone off track for a couple days at a time and still have managed to drop weight. Just like losing weight takes a few days of consistently eating less calories than you take in, so goes gaining weight.

There's a lot of new scientific data on "calorie cycling" and how it promotes weight loss, so maybe that's what goes on when you have a little something extra. A couple hundred less calories one day, a few hundred more on another and somehow progress is enhanced. Go figure!

Hey Bunny, the difference in your last several weigh ins is pretty small. This last one is 0.2 of a pound or a little less than 1/2 cup of water (125ml). Your body weight will fluctuate several pounds in a day as you eat, drink, get hydrated, get dehydrated, etc., even if you weighed yourself at exactly the same time, say early morning before eating or drinking, lack of sleep and other factors can still make the scale number go up or down through water weight...masking your actual fat loss or gain. There is a great old post on the site that explains this and other things in greater detail and is well worth the read by anyone, "Why the scales can lie". Take care and have a great week!!

Bodies are strange and beautiful machines, with many things going on. They change alkaline into acid and visa-versa, they process foods and depending on activity levels make sure the right chemicals go to the right parts of the body and brain. Calories are only part of the answer, how your body processes those calories is key.
