Hey buddies,

My monthly weigh in here. I've managed to reach my goal for this month (149 lbs), a total lost of 6.6 lbs this month, which means I'm now caught up to my ultimate goal for November 1. I'm hoping to lose another 6 lbs this month for my 20 lb mark (143) so I can reward myself with the kindle before our big trip (I wanna read on the plane).

TOM was due two days ago, and my body has been a little weird. I've started taking allergy medicine this week because the pollen is super bad, and I can't breathe when I run. However, it dries my throat out a lot, and that makes running difficult too. Yesterday, while on my run, I started dry heaving because I couldn't swallow because of my dry throat, and immediately got awful cramps during the last mile or half mile of my run. The cramps continued for about 10 minutes after the run, but no TOM. This morning, no cramps and a little spotting. Then, I go for another run, and the cramps start back up after going 2 miles. They only lasted for 5 minutes after I stopped, but again just a little spotting. Now the cramps are back, and I'm still only spotting.

I've read that if women are exercising a lot, it can mess up their menstrual cycles, but I thought it was just for pro athletes. How much exercising will influence your cycle? Also, depending on how much I exercise, would it be okay to start drinking low calorie gatorade? I think the influence on the menstrual cycle is because of a lack of vitamins or nutrients that maybe the gatorade would help with? Any thoughts / inputs highly appreciated!
149.0 lb Lost so far: 14.0 lb.    Still to go: 24.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Exercise will affect your monthly cycle but only if your body fat percentage gets too low I mean down in the single digits low.Then you won't cycle at all. Your kind of exercise should be fine, where are your cramps are they up around your rib cage or down in your ovary area if you hurt and your crampy I wouldn't run maybe a nice brisk walk and I don't see a problem with taking Gatorade.Sip on water or Gaterade as you run to stay hydrated. Exercise on a whole will help your body and help stabilize your Cycles.Cramps under your ribs is lack of muscle strength, and maybe breathing wrong, but they should go away in time. But you may have a more serious problem and would benefit from seeing a good Gyn Dr to rule out ovarian cyst or infection.I hope this helps,good luck and congrats on reaching your goal!

The cramps were in my ovary area. I've ran before, on and off for 2 years now, and just started up again about 2 months ago. Walking may be an option, but then I feel like I'm failing on my workout. :( Especially like today, my goal was three miles, and I had to stop at 2.5. I've always had bad cramps, with exercise and without, and the ob-gyn couldn't find anything wrong. *sigh* Maybe it will get better as I get older?

Well I think it's great that you are trying to run. First day of TOM (or day before) often leaves me in bed. It's just tires me out completely. I used to have horrible cramps and the only cure I found was birth control. But that can do some nasty things to your body, too. *sigh* The curses of being a lady.

Thanks everyone! @megmonster, my period is the same way. I never found a birth control that worked. :( I've chalked it up to if I can take enough medicine early enough, it dulls out some of the pain. Being a lady stinks! @smartygirlCA, glad to hear the sticky tape worked! :)
